The reason some of the crimes will be tried in Civil Court as opposed to Criminal Court, is because in some instances the statute of limitations, and/or the level of evidence is too low to be used in the Criminal Court, but the threshold of evidence is much lower in Civil Court, for example the O.J. Simpson case. That's why the Attorney that spoke a few weeks ago, stated his clients cases would be predominantly in the Civil Court.

PD settled a civil lawsuit and then was prosecuted. Why are these others who are codefendants not being prosecuted? That Busbee is going to make a ton of $ for his law firm. What's happening here is that these lawyers have "Evidence" that most likely has never been turned over to the prosecutors. The lawyers then approach the "alleged" perpetrators saying : "if you pay XXXXX Dollars, this won't get to court." If they get the money then the "Evidence" simple "disappears". If there's no evidence, then there's no criminal case. BUT NO MONEY ? Then the lawyers file a civil case and the evidence becomes public record and then becomes potential evidence in a criminal case.
