AK, salute for knowing better and doing better as you raise up your own children 🫡 To anyone asking why victims stay with abusers: plz understand that they put victims in a position that makes it difficult to impossible to leave. That’s a huge part of their M.O. which they spend a lifetime perfecting. They break you down mentally, financially, physically and spiritually which makes you a shell of who you once were. When you’re a shell of a human being you don’t think logically, you don’t function normally and you don’t observe things as you should. You live in a reactive state of mind bc you start operating in survival mode like the animal you’re being treated like. You might think you’d never be in a situation like this, but it’s a gradual process of wearing you down and stealing your independence which keeps you trapped where you are. You don’t even realize the extent of what’s happening until you have no where to go and no one to call for help and that’s a huge part of the problem. Victims need long term help rebuilding their life, not a week or weekend stay-over. Most friends aren’t offering to take you (& your kids and pets if you have any) into their home rent free for an unspecified amount of time while you rebuild your life from the ground up. It is never as simple as it seems 💯
