Bubbler the Octopus...the one boss challenge/part of a video game that made my friend cry as he was in first the whole race and at the last second the octopus trampled him over... The joys of DKR boss races...
“Collect all of the silver coins from my world...” Translation: Let me give you a task that keeps you busy while I have time to practice, get faster and challenge you to a rematch.
I see what you did with Drumstick vs. Wizpig. Basically a rematch of what happened prior to the events of the game where he lost and was turned into a frog
STAY AWAY!!! from the DS Remake it’s Ridiculously Horrible!! compared to the Original, they Fucked up everything in the Remake, Trust me! and they made the Remake waaay to easier!!, Bosses are A complete Joke, do not pay no mind to those that think the DS Version is great or Fine bcuz in reality it really isn’t its so Garbage!!
Fun Fact! According to the August 2007 edition of Rare's Scribes, it was originally intended that Prince Tricky from Star Fox Adventures would be same character as this Tricky in Diddy Kong Racing, back when it was under development as Dinosaur Planet. According to Kevin Bayliss, former character designer at Rare, the two Trickys used the same model, before Dinosaur Planet was rebranded into a Star Fox game, after which the two characters were disconnected from each other.
Yeah, it's a nifty little detail made by our peeps at Rare, ammirite? 😉 Rare - my favourite developers of all time ❤ If you look up Star Fox Adventures, it's quite an interesting read, actually 👍🏻
In a world where a monkey, mouse, tiger, badger, turtle, bear, squirrel, Crocodile, Chicken and a FUCKING clock can talk it's really weird that a dinosaur can talk
I can't even explain the AI defect during the wizpig races. The zipper shoots you so far, you miss platforms and following zippers. Frustrating yet satisfying after beating him
Wow! You make it look so easy! ~ It tooked me about 30 times to beat the triceratops. ~ about 20 times to beat the walrus ~ exactly 45 times to beat the Octopus ~ about 60 times to beat the Dragon ~ AND OVER A FRIGGING 100 TIMES to beat Wizpig (actually my dad did it, after i gave up at over a 100 times of trying...) Btw, i loved the Dragons design. He was my favourite. Maybe he made me love Dragon at the first place, because back then he was the first Dragon i'v ever saw. :D
I keep on actually thinking, what if all those bosses from Diddy Kong Racing weren't racing bosses, but fighting bosses instead, as planned in a completely different game but Diddy Kong Racing?
I was a teenager when i finally beat wizpig....i got this game when it first came out. Shows how hard it was coming back to it anf trying to do what i couldnt do when i was a kid 😆 Tbh the coin challenges were way harder on certain levels. Frosty village was a nightmare to beat
I played against the final WizPig too many times in order to finally win. My mom used to tell me to turn the game off bc i would get so angry. I remember finally beating him and the biggest weight being lifted off my chest lol
**rocket breaking** Wizpig: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH **at outer space** AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH **rocket explodes and wizpig is now on Uranus**
The octopus was the most unforgiving boss of any video game. Especially the second race with the bubbles.. this boss takes a long time to eventually beat. I still struggle and this is the first game I’ve ever played.
BOSS REPLACEMENT MOD TIME: KING BOWSER (REPLACING TRICKY THE TRICERATOPS) CAPTAIN SYRUP (REPLACING BLUEY THE WALRUS) KING BOB-OMB (REPLACING BUBBLER THE OCTOPUS) KING BOO (REPLACING SMOKEY THE DRAGON) DRY BOWSER (REPLACING WIZPIG IN BOTH RACES, during 2nd race, he is assisted by King Boo, Dry Bones &/or King Wart)
isn't there a second version of the credits that plays, using the darkmoon caverns theme? or is my memory terrible? Still, the nostalgia seeing all this makes me want to bust out my n64 and play it.. still have the game, but the consoles given up the ghost :
I find it funny that for the second race against wizpig, if you play as drumstick or TT, your top speed is faster than wizpigs so as long as you don't crash/get hit you will just outpace him
Also, interesting how the first two bosses are the only non lap races in the whole game. Kinda wish there was more of those in the game, not that it matters much.
What I really don't like about the Boss Races is that every boss always gets a head start. Announcer says get ready and the boss is already across the starting line.
I remember my father buying me the N64 bundle that came with this game,at age 8. I beat this entire game, but recently as an adult a got this game on emulator and for the life of me I can't beat the octopus boss due my poor hand-eye coordination 😂
Are you not actually getting a better speedboost from items and boosters on the track if you let go of the gas before activating them ? At the very least it always gave a visually different effect and it seemed to me to be better. But I don't see anyone ever use that in any of the videos they post. EDIT: Okay in the race agaisnt wizpig he uses the boost by letting go of the gas a moment before hitting it.
