I'm of Irish descent. We were enslaved by Roman's and even the English. Never heard an Irish person cry about what happened 200 or 300 years ago.

Both my parents were born in west Tennessee and were the children of sharecroppers. My dad was taken out of school when he was 9 years old and made to go work in the cotton fields until he turned 19 years old. My mom was taken out of school when she was 11 years old and made to work in the cotton fields until she was 15 years old. She said she and her brother and sister would chop cotton (weed the cotton) in the summer and pick the bolls in the fall from sunup till sundown for .15 cents a day. She said she worked out in the cotton fields with both white and black people. Whole communities worked together in the fields. She had to give her dad .10 cents of it and was allowed to keep a nickel. My dad got a job working for his brother in St. Louis and took the job to get out of the cotton fields. My mom married my dad when she was 15 and he was 19, to go with him to St. Louis and to also get out of the cotton fields. For the rest of her life, she would get angry whenever she heard someone say that "white people never worked out in the cotton fields."

Schools and Colleges often only teach the parts of history that suit there political agendas. Indoctrination of students is rife especially in the west . In America in particular the primary focus is on the Atlantic slave trade when in fact the history of slavery is far more complex and diverse than just that and it affected all races, religions and continents going back thousands of years. Slavery is not about race/colour, it’s a human trait that has existed since the dawn of man, the desire for power and money at any cost!

What's interesting is, I learned this in school in the 1950s and 1960s. I also learned about all the slavery from reading the Bible. My children learned all about this in school in the 1980s and early 1990s. Either it is no longer part of history studies in school or recent students missed the lessons when it was being taught.

While English ships stopped in Ireland to pick up indentured servants, my GG Grandmother was taken captive. White of course. The English, also white, saw the opportunity to make more money than just what they could make off of the indentured. They put her on the ship and headed out. She managed to make it to Boston where she was placed on a slave auction block and was sold to a wealthy Scottish family. She was impregnated by the owner of the house and when his wife discovered her pregnancy, she was cast out. She managed to get to Johnson City, Tennessee and gave birth to my mothers grandmother. That girl married a handsome man from Tennessee and he and his wife gave birth to my maternal grandfather. My grandfather was born in 1900. HE and my grandmother had 9 children. All 6 of their boys served in the military. I have never had a moments animosity about her slavery as it was because of her, we have a large, loving family who have all been responsible, caring and loving people.

This was not called slavery, but coal mines "employed" many people but paid them in scrip, which was a type of money that was only negotiable with the owner of the mines. They lived in row houses owned by the company so you paid your rent with the scrip. You also bought your groceries, clothes, and other goods at the company store with scrip. So you were giving back your salary to maintain your life. This was not much different than slavery as they also worked for their "keep". It was made illegal in the US in 1938 but continued for several years.

Believe or not before the civil war the slaves of the north weren’t black & weren’t called slaves! They were white and called indentured servants! Same thing just different labels. So it was arranged that she would leave through Jordan. But it was discovered that she made the TikTok video and she was beating for it. But they were still able to get her out. She was 12 when she was kidnapped, and she’s 22 now. She’s back home with her family.

In Rome, if you were poor and couldn't take care of yourself, you could find a rich person to become the slave ot,, become a household servant, get some food, clothing and shelter, make a little bit of money, and possibly save up money to buy your freedom if you survived long enough. The Bible gave all kinds of laws protecting the lives and well-being of slaves and how to treat them humanely, with punishments if you mistreated them. Not as cruel as American slavery, where people were routinely beaten and worked to death and with less opportunity to buy their freedom. All slavery is wrong, but every country that had slaves did it a little differently. People are too often looking for others to exploit and use and look down upon. Its the sinful nature of mankind.

The ships that brought the slaves were owned by Jewish merchants from Portugal. Also Africans didn’t sell their own people the black people were not related to their tribe or kingdom. In Africa skin didn’t matter it was about tribe. Africa has over 70 different DNA patterns. People from Nigeria are totally different than the people from Kenya.

The influence of the well crafted and well acted mini series Roots can not be overstated in my opinion. I can’t imagine how many whites watched it and felt greatly guilty. And in turn blacks felt need for repetitions. A holistic view of all aspects of slavery worldwide is much needed.

The sad truth is, every race and creed on Earth have been enslaved at one time. The Islamic slave trade lasted longer, and enslaved more people than the trans Atlantic slave trade. A Caribbean Island with a 99% Black population, and ask yourself why does it have a flag with a White European woman holding up an Iriish harp? North Africans have significant amounts of European DNA that is there because of hundreds of years of the Islamic slave traders raiding Europe and taking not only European wealth in countries like England, but their people too, especially women. If we are seriously going to talk about reparations, the Arabs need to give up billions to White Europeans, as do the desendants of the Black tribes that sold their own people into slavey. The Danes became weathy due to raiding and stealing what would be hundreds of billions fom the English and Irish in the 8 and 9th Centuries.

The last residential school in canada closed down in 1997. Friends, the popular TV show had started their epic decade long run at that time.. and killer residential schools were still being operated by the Catholic church, maintained and supported by canadian taxpayers, at that time. Not that long ago.. and don't get me started on the 60's Scoop of Indigenous Children.. the theft of indigenous children is ongoing.. which is where my part of the story comes in. I'm one of those trafficked children.. legally scooped up by the system because of the poverty of my indigenous parents.. given to rich white people, who took the education and indoctrination of my mind and personality very very seriously.

I'm a descendant of Scottish/Indigenous people ( Canadian Metis ) even some Indigenous peoples kept slaves. NO ONE'S HANDS WERE CLEAN!!!!!! It started BEFORE AMERICA WAS ESTABLISHED with WHITE EUROPEANS. Mauritania still actively has slavery ...they not supposed to , but they do. same with Arabs well documented by various organizations. There's several TYPES of slavery as well that has kept rearing it's ugly head , sad but true. I just happened to luck out and got a good education . I'm Canadian even we only touch briefly about it in grade school...more than stateside apparently. You want to learn about it , you have to get a higher education and then actually PICK a course that would include it. So , unless you do that you will never be educated on the subject. Don't just rely on the net either ( that's a crap shoot ) you never really know if it's true , that's why we have something called libraries. Oddly enough that's where I went when I skipped out of school...the library. Big nerd , couldn't handle a classroom environment. However in the library I could listen to music ( LP'S were still a thing )and read a book and NO ONE WOULD BOTHER ME!!!! Not even the librarian , she just thought I was a serious student , til the school hunted me down!!! I have it on the very best authority ( Mom ) that the librarian was impressed with me despite the circumstances. What 14 year old do you know borrows dry dusty historical texts and CHAUCER and actually enjoy's reading them. LOLOLOL

I’m Irish, and yep, loads were treated terribly and brutally, but not as badly as the later African Slaves. This - whites were slaves too is exaggerated by white racists - who then go, the Irish got over their slavery, why don’t black folk/African Americans.
