'Didn't lay a tackle' - What's next for Carlton after Blues reach new low in 2023 I Fox Footy 

A few weeks ago I found a "Deliveroo" bag on the side of the road and I took it home. My wife cracked the sads, but I knew I would have a use for it. A few weeks ago I swore I would not go to another Blues game this year, but after watching the first quarter I was pretty impressed by the intensity of the boys. I strapped my Deliveroo bag to the back of my motorcycle and headed to the G to catch the second half. The Deliveroo bag meant that I could drive my motorcycle right out the front of the ground and leave it next to one of those food trucks. I walked in right at the start of the third quarter, watched 9 minutes, walked straight back out and rode home. I can't imagine how annoyed I would be if I had to catch public transport for that. I also grabbed a pizza on the way home, and it stayed warm in the bag. Anyway, that's a lifehack for any motorbike riders out there.

The media is obsessed with the coach, but go back through Carlton's performance in National and Rookie Draft for the past 20 years. Outside of a few notable first round picks, they could have almost not bothered picking anyone.

Carlton did a lot right, they dominated inside 50s & had more scoring shots (though scoring a goal can alter this stat). It's literally their execution thats the problem. They just can't convert, which has been the problem during the past few games. They need to take an extra second and make more decisive actions when going inside 50. Not sure why Carlton supporters are having a go at Cripps or blaming Voss, saw a lot of harsh criticism from them on their supporters page, its literally just a confidence issue, just need to polish that part of their game and they'll be competitive again. They just need to be a little more disciplined as well. As an Essendon supporter, I was actually worried they'd come back (like the collingwood game) as they had momentum at the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th quarter.

I have decided to just watch VFL for the rest of the season. The Blues are doing OK there and I never have to hear the media talk about it. Win/Win.

When Carlton name there team I am always scratching my head as to “are these players really going to play there?”

Carlton have too many sub par players, it is that simple. Got nothing to do with "not executing". They literally can't execute to the standard that is expected of them. They are a bottom half team but everyone is expecting them not to be. They constantly make unforced errors, poor decisions and demonstrate a lack of skill consistent with a bottom four side.

If Matlop gets picked next week they need to get rid of the match committee.

Get rid of the dead wood like silvagni. It’s a disgrace that you have a kid in the VFL getting best on ground and can’t get picked. It tells you all you need to know. Drop that Harry until he learns to kick. He’s simply wastes everyone’s effort. His hand should shake collecting the ridiculous money he gets for being utterly unskilled

Put archers into the guts Boyd onto the wing and put Walsh half back, watch the run start Walsh and kick a ball and makes most the time good decisions, Boyd is a good runner and has a good kick, archers isn’t bad with the ball but won’t make a difference outta the centre because his hack kicks will at least go to a one on one contest instead of 3 one 1, put fisher onto the other wing and put cotts into the forward pocket. Spin the bloody magnets try something

Lay some tackles. Make it hard for them as they are for us. You will find it will make a huge impact. 31 less tackles then the Bombers and 12 less tackles INSIDE 50. That is as big an influence on the outcome of the game as goal kicking. The focus must be on tackling this week and into the future.

This is all about the players but sadly it will be the coach who pays the price. I would look at all the players on the list and make changes at seasons end

they call themselves the blues and wonder why they are constantly depressing lol, keep it up I say. Doing the rest of us favor's.

Need 6 more B- to B+ players. Too many C+ and C grade players. Can't be expecting a top 6 finish just on Cripps and Curnow. Brodie would be a good midfield depth addition and free up Cripps, and Nathan Wilson is wasted in the WAFL to free up Saad to venture forward more often.

The “way” Carlton kicks the ball into 50 is pitiful. St Kilda is also pretty bad but they have the small forwards to put pressure on the other way

Need to get Brendan McCartney and Mathew Scarlett as assistant coaches

Take it from this third generation, rusted on bluebagger who has both a life member AND a 50 year “consecutive” member in the immediate family… Club’s in big, big trouble. I talk to a lot of people and everyone I speak with has had enough. Including me.

What next for Carlton? I think they should ask Michael Voss if he is interested in playing for Carlton.

These flogs grind my gears. Doesn't matter how many tackles you lay if you kick 6.16! If they upped their tackles and got 12 more shots on goal they would only have kicked an extra 3.9 and would still have lost the game! Accuracy is the biggest issue. Sort that out and everything else will fall into place. I suggest they get a goal-kicking coach that actually knows a thing or two about kicking goals to come in and explain the finer points. Perhaps Lance Whitnall or someone of that ilk.

Please stick with Vossy...we've had our honeymoon period ....the real hard work has started....let's get through this period and give Voss the time and space he needs ....please don't go down the sacking track again...if you do please sack yourself also.....In Voss we trust !

Whoever lets Harry McKay kick that way for goal should be sacked. Get Llordo done there to help or watch how Oscar Allen kicks for goal. Great technique

I’ve got no idea what Lyon is talking about. How is that Curnow’s space. They’re both at the top of the 50 for a shallow short pass entry. It’s hardly a long leading corridor. If Owies had’ve marked it both Brown and Lyon would be saying that he made good position. Simple answer, Curnow had both Owies and the ball in his vision, Owies only had the ball. Thus, the team thing to do was for Curnow to call Owies in and then protect his back.

Would it be the Carlton officials have placed a higher expectation on the players than they are currently capable of . You all know what Fremantle delivered in the first 5 rounds after a large number of squad changes !

Carlton played ok......they had alot of behinds but a few were rushed and some werent gettable so comparing scoring shots mean nothing. Essendon were the better side.....

The huge expectations asked of professional sportsman is so demanding. These young men playing for Carlton need to firstly enjoy the game. Then you reach solid ground. Let them develop.

Kicking the footy to a teammate is our biggest issue. Its sounds so simple yet they cant just have quick look qnd kick it to the advantage of our players

They Say Voss Is Safe🤔, He "Voss" Should Watch His Back. Uncertain Future!

Tackle counts are pending on how the game and team are umpired. In every game one side seems too get the preferred 50/50 decisions and no one can say otherwise. This is the result of that . Players do not go in as hard for various reasons. Voss took over the team that had long term contracted players which limits his options when its draft time. But the kicking on goal was at junior level which would have been more of a factor of loosing that game in the manner Carlton did, saying that, kicking on goal throughout has been below par regardless of club.

I have never felt more ashamed about my two Carlton tattoos. During the third quarter I started googling "laser removal" as I no longer want the emblem on my arm. I will, however, keep the tattoo of Bruce Doull on my back. I'm tempted to see if I can get a suit of some other clothing tattooed over the top of his jumper. That would make it a pretty strange tattoo, but frankly, I would feel more comfortable at the pool with a back tattoo of an old bald guy running in a suit, than for people to know I'm a Blues supporter.

3 games in a row Carlton has only managed 6 goals. Never going to win. Carlton needs a full reset from the ground up. They have really average players that can't perform

Ive been telling all my Carlton mates, the list is over rated. Cripps career has been wasted, Weitering and Curnow about to go down the same path. Too many average/dud players playing weekly: mcgovern, silvagni, acres, kennedy, motlop, owies, cottrell, young...... Only way forward is another rebuild.

Time for that merger with Nth. The Carlton Kangaroos has a ring to it. They are both failing clubs from neighboring suburbs. Maybe they could build a decent team from the list of players available. It would free up space in the League for another team.
