It's like a bowl cut in the front and a mullet in the back😂 She is still a cutie. Especially when she's bouncing around stage shaking her cute little body.
+Rainbo T Late reply, but I think she's focusing on translating it all. I read somewhere that her English isn't that good as Ninja's, so maybe that's why she seems out of it. I don't know, though.
Yverny van der Schaaff before die antwoord, in the max normal and constructus corporation era she used to speak a lot and speak very normally on interviews (even though her accent was always strong) please check older interviews before die antwoord, and you will see they both look and talk differently and very fluently. die antwoord is a satire act, they're mainly actors that found a way to earn money, the critic is that they used to portray themselves as cult intelligent people with previous projects and never sold good, now they portray themselves as white trash dumb gangsters and win millions with it, thats a critic to todays society and media consuming, while obviously making them rich, they are very talented and their act proves it
Reporter: "Yolandi, you have pet rats. How old is your rat and what's its name?" Yolandi: "Actually I have 30 rats and it's hard to tell the difference and I call them all sneaky prawns."
Jason Sebring - Same here. I live in the UK abnd hadn't even heard of these guys until I saw Chappie. I heard the Butterfly song at the end and thought "no way that is those 2 for real" I watched the movie credits and saw they played themselves (no character names) and I was fascinated by them.....I agree, they are interesting people, people say they are always on drugs, OK so they smoke a bit of weed, but tbh I think it is over-played for the videos etc they are always stright headed and normal when I see their intyerviews :) awesome pair
They seem surprisingly civilized when they're not in a video. Is Yolandi cute as hell, or what? Named her rat "sneaky prawn" kind of reminds me of the movie "District 9" where the aliens were called prawns. I love her hairdo.
+Noke0 3-17-2016 - - - - - My impression of the impression I think they're trying to present in their "art" is of some kind of degenerate, violent, messy, dirty, gangsta, malevolent, social/cultural rejects getting back in the faces of "civilization." Remember: this is my "impression" of their "art" and not the persons themselves in reality. I get it.

Take care dude.
Sub Samadhi Alice is an inspiration in his music, like many other musicians. but they're nothing alike lol. they're both really good at what they do, and I personally respect their art very much. gotta give credit where credit is due, even if you arent a fan. I'm not a fan of Kanye West but I can still admit hes a good artist
After much research on video reports and interviews he is the one who talks he sushes her on a lot of her and she can only say certain things. He admits he is control.
I love Die Antwoord they have a totally original style and sound. Both of them go together so well and compliment each other so nicely. It’s nice to see people from Africa have a spot in the light, such a wonderful addition to the music scene and a great form of original art. Thank you Die Antwoord for making such an impact on music and creating a new form of art which has so much potential.
Please look into their son tokki and the zhanie drama. I guarantee you wont love them after, love the art not the artist!! (Ninja also says the n word.... a lot)
@@oop6390 I do love the art but the art would not be there without them. I don’t care what they did I did not see it with my own eyes and I don’t care how reliable the source and if they admit it good on them at least they have the balls to say it. I am sure you have never done something unacceptable. This whole judging thing is like a sowing circle or something even if someone does something horrible it’s their business not everyone else’s people make mistake and we where more bust worried about what WE do rather then others this would be a better world. You try having everyone know your business it’s hard just to carry four coffees in a tray without spilling them all with that pressure.
@@ricktherrien8235 wow ur disgusting. Imagine supporting a racist that abuses their kids and yolandi. I genuinely cant believe theres people like you in this world. Like I said, you can like the art and not the artist. Obviously the art wouldnt be their without them but neither would the trauma ninja has caused a lot of people.
@@ricktherrien8235. They have never admitted to any wrongdoing, when it comes to their adoptive children, and they had Zhehani removed from a social media platform, to stop her sharing her perspective on what happened, when she met Ninja. I don’t believe in judging others, either. There’s nothing wrong with talking about our experiences with others, though, like Tokkie and Zhehani did, assuming they are being honest. Feedback is part of the learning process.
I do not understand why everyone is calling them junkies. I've known junkies and they seem pretty coherent to me. A little nervous and out of their element, but not high on anything. And they answered all the questions logically. I love how Yolandi ended with "Once". :)
Only idiots think they are junkies and the only reason They call them junkies is because they talk about getting high. It's like... Wtf... People rap about killing people all the time but that doesn't mean they are serial killers. People are fucking stupid.
As a south African I just wanna make people aware the English is not their MOTHER TONGUE!...They speak AFRIKAANS so that's why they speak English as they do:)
I love them. They are so interesting to watch. I don't care if their lyrics aren't deep or that they don't play their own instruments. They're so goddamn entertaining and Yolandi is a badass!

Amy Carter Maybe they don't interview well.Maybe they are comfortable performing on stage but not cornered and questioned on camera.Everybody has their "ticks" when nervous.Dont get me wrong they very well might be on at least weed but you can't tell just because they are itching.
everyone is unique, if you do what others do and behave how you are expected to behave to fit in then you are not being yourself. i love the accent of their speak. its really pretty, i actually thought they were german, due to the germanic language. i love yolandi's gold tooth. really neat for this to go global. I like the idea of whites and blacks living together, even if it is in poverty. we are all creatures of the earth. we are all beautiful.
This is one of my favorite interviews of this pair. They are far more subdued than their portrayed image, but it all comes with a lot of history that isn't covered in this short set of questions. I do gather that Ninja doesn't really appreciate when they are asked asinine questions about the cultivation and long journey it took them to get to Die Antwoord. I definitely think it's respectable that he wants to focus on the promotion and success of what they have currently achieved, rather than the struggles or trials and tribulations of the past. I'm sure that interviews seem rather redundant and no one wants to be reminded of a segment of their career that may not have been as successful as they had hoped, but now that they are " blowin' up over seas" , how great of an example are they for their tenacity and determination to make their passion and unique views/personalities, into such a defining wave of success on an international/global level! That's inspiration to so many people out their , that they seldom acknowledge or give credit to. Hands down, they are one of a kind and I love that they pull people into new perspectives on a regular basis.

I don't think some people understand the incredible art that they put on. They transition and create and and just completely embody the brand that they've created. That's exactly what it is, a brand. It's something so weird that people question it, but just so real at the same time. Completely uncensored realness, but done in an insane way.
Saying that it's a "brand" seems like the complete opposite of what they embody. They're actually not doing a brand, that's why they're real. If you're just doing a brand and acting like it here and there, anyone can smell the bullshit. The nice thing about Die Antwoord is because they don't do branding.
I cocktailed at their House of Blues Las Vegas show, it was sooo funny. Way better than I expected, hella high energy. At one point they said "Amuuurrica- Fuck yeah!" I almost cried laughing so hard.
I've watched several of their videos now on RU-vid . I don't like them but God damn it . I can't stop watching them they're very unique and interesting they kind of grow on you like foot fungus.
Future breaking news.... They're trash bags as people. Shame really, because they seemed great here. There are other interviews around this time, maybe a little later that make them look like parodies of overly eccentric (more so than here) artists that aren't in on the joke.
Really?? not a single comment about that he said that Bilbo Baggins is from New Zealand.. Damn I love him for saying that Ow and it's Afrikaans what they are speaking in songs and well I'm dutch and understand like 30% of it
People Commenting either have never really gotten stoned and cant tell the difference between being jet-lagged and being stoned. My god, some people are even saying they're on acid!. Do some research before commenting and learn what they say about smoking dope, as in when they do. Also listen to their lyrics, Die Antwoord are extremely anti hard drugs. And as for being racist, cop on people.
@Paul Gauthier they've both smoked blunts in various videos. Ninja is sitting next to a weed plant while Yolandi smokes a massive blunt in an interview and they were both baked. Idk how they feel about real drugs but they both definitely smoke weed.
@Paul Gauthier idk how tf you got tagged I was replying to the OP. If you read the comment I was agreeing with you and thought I was replying to the person that said they're all straight edge or whatever. If you read both replies you can see we were both making the same point.
Perfect interveiw to show that a stage persona has nothing to do with who they really are they seem very nice and want what all people want a little privacy and using a talent to the fullest while being a normal family with a daughter. Lot of celebs crack up because they try to keep up the act all the time but these two seem to be an exception to the rule.
It's hard not to think that I'm their biggest fan based on how popular they are, but to put it in perspective there was my life before I discovered them and there was life after. I was fascinated by their music, videography, words, and attitude. I was almost nervous about watching their live shows and interviews as if they weren't going to live up to my expectations in real life, and to my delight I wasn't "let down" when I dug deeper into their story. It would be so hard to keep my cool if I walked past them in some train or plane station.

@@oop6390 I've read couple of Alistair Crowley's books and didn't find anything "good" about them or satanism in general. Only a narcissistic hedonistic point of view where heartless people use each other

These comments aren't great but I can understand why a lot have been made. These guys are smart and educated. Die Antwoord is a creation and these are acts. This is why they don't interview much and why they seem odd. You can see their previous creation MaxNormalTV, where they come across much smarter but you can tell it's still an act. You'll notice the completely different personas they have. I think an old MaxNormalTV even talks about becoming a fake rap act.
People are going to be so butt hurt when they see how intelligent and articulate they both are. Not to mention smart. They've created a whole aesthetic that is being branded and sold by two very normal, bright people. I hope they don't get too hurt and can appreciate the performance art that it is, that they've had to put on ALL THE TIME, for the past few years.
Exactly. It’s a bit of a performance because that’s what artist do. Junkies don’t usually take care of themselves and they are both fit. In a way that requires exercise on a normal routine.
@@leafodan3730. There are also people who just have good genetics. I had an in-law who was a tweaker and never exercised, but always looked wiry…slim and muscular. She is now a very successful new age figure people go to for life coaching and healing. She says she has become a much more healthy person and I don’t doubt that, but she always looked that way, at her lowest point. Some people get a low of undeserved credit for their lifestyle, because of their luck of the genetic draw!
They live their lifes to the fullest, and I like them for that, also they don't give a fuck about what's he gona say or what they gona say and etc... They just laid back cool people ;))

To me it's hilarious how they have become the prisoners of their own joke. They started as a parody of the whole "gansta style" and now they have actually become these caricatures. At least in the light of latest accusations. To me it's fascinating that some people don't realize how this whole DA concept was totally calculated to the teeth.
Yolandi is adorable man. Her I dont give a fuck style makes her so sexy and cute. She comes off so shy in the interview its ridiculously attractive. Super pretty!!!!

Their other interview is worth a look as well. It's on the list to the right on this page and is called: "DIE ANTWOORD'S US DEBUT AT COCACHELLA" - INTERVIEW. The audio on it kind of blows but that's the interviewer's fault. Yolandi is cute their too. She sure seems distracted though, but hey - zeff-on dudes.
