Die Hard Trilogy (PS1) | From Camera to Console 

The funny thing about Frank Sinatra having first dibs on starring in Die Hard is that, if they wanted to remain accurate to Leland, Sinatra likely would have been the perfect age for the role. It would have been utterly ridiculous to see a 70-year-old Sinatra in Die Hard, but it would have been book accurate. As for Trilogy, I could never get into it as a kid, especially Vengeance's game, but I can see the appeal in its three-games-in-one structure. If you ever think about revisiting this subject, though, you can always check out Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, a 2002 FPS for PC that's an actual direct adaptation of the first movie.

I played the trilogy on the Saturn back in 1997-1998, my favorites were DH1 and DH3 as I always thought DH2 was so ugly and not fun to play with a controller, I only experienced the PS1 release not too long ago via emulation and I noticed many differences right away. The games look much better, with sunlight effects and overall aesthetics. DH2 on the PS1 not only performs but also looks better. In DH3, while the Saturn version isn't as pretty, I feel the controls work better, specially with the sharp turns using L-R buttons, where the PS1, the car slides a bit and you have to correct it every time. This is not to say the Saturn controls great in comparison as all three games feel rushed and could use more time for fine tuning during its development, this is true for any version of this game, though I never tried the PC release. I found it interesting how barebones visually the Saturn compares to the PS1 in this package, while later releases such as Burning Rangers gives us a glimpse of how much the Saturn had to offer, but it's not like this trilogy was a high budget project, still, I had lots of fun and played it a lot back then. Edit: I just checked the PC release and wow, it's almost like what would have been if this game was released on something like the 3DO or even the GBA, very barebones 3D graphics and sprites for explosions, also, revisiting the Saturn release, the controls are really better and there actually a few effects that the PS1 lacks, one example is when you drive your car into the water.

Late to the party but I've been binging all your videos. These are fantastic. Your movie collection is insane and would love to be held captive Clockwork Orange style and be forced to indulge all of them, although I wouldn't call it force. Just give me a mainline of beer and Funyuns and I'm in heaven. Was Simon Sez rewritten for Rodman?
