This is a shaky lo-fi video of “Die Koschmiders,” a Beatles tribute band from Hamburg, Germany. Filmed at a Christmas market on the Reeperbahn, Nov 30, 2014.
“Die Koschmiders” are named after Bruno Koschmider, the promoter who first booked the Beatles into his live clubs Indra and Kaiserkeller in Hamburg back in 1960. Yet “Die Koschmiders” aren’t like many other Beatles revival bands out there. They do not wear any silly wigs. They do not dress up like the Beatles. Nor do they have to play authentic instruments or amps from the sixties. It’s not their purpose to sound exactly like the Beatles either, and you will hear lots of lesser known tracks or B sides from them. With their minimalistic approach, “Die Koschmiders” manage to reduce the famous Beatles compositions to their very essence, giving them a fresh flavour. Whatever song they cover, you will hear their love for the Beatles in every note they play. In other words, “Die Koschmiders” are arguably one of the most exciting Beatles tribute bands today, and it’s hard not to fall in love with them. It’s rock ‘n’ roll with a wink.
