Diego de Alvarado was a Basque composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods who worked at the Portugese Court in Lisbon. This tiento is set on the medieval hymn "Pange lingua gloriosi corporis mysterium" linked to the Feast of Corpus Christi. It is not possible to emulate historic Spanish or Portugese organ sounds well, but a registration combining a quintadena with some flutes and a soft reed in a meantone temperament hopefully comes close.
