Mexico 1986 was Maradona at his absolute peak. I was 16 at the time and played in our high school team. Every young lad back then wanted to be Maradona. He was, and still is, the greatest icon of the beautiful game.

The fact he pulls this off in a world Cup game, not just some pickup or mid season league game - shows how incredible it really is. A lot of people can do fancy moves, but quickly humbled in meaningful games. This guy pulled this off when stakes were so high and opponents were best in the world.

Why this goal is considered the greatest is not only because of the incredible dribbling skills and composure of Maradona but also it was played on a sub-standard pitch in Mexico. Gary Linekar in his commentary states that to score such a goal on that type of pitch was possible only to a person like Maradona. Maradona was one of his kind, greatest of them all.

I’m Argentinian (born in 1982). Maradona was one if not the most famous person in my country and now having being living in Europe and met people from all the world I noticed that maradona was famous everywhere that’s so crazy to understand. We have our own famous people celebrities but never imagined that Maradona was admired by such quantity of people

In Bangladesh, Maradona is more known than the Argentina itself. Our childs first know the name 'Maradona' when start playing football. They know the name of his country 'Argentina' very much later. So, he is greater than his whole country in fame. In recent years, 'Messi' is in the same place or nearly same place along with him. He is unforgettable. He is the Greatest. You cannot imagine how we love him. I think, Maradona and Messi has more strict or pure fans in number in Bangladesh than Argentina 's entire population (46 Millions). We are highly proud of Maradona and Messi. Our Love for them is unbeatable. Bangladeshis are really crazy for them. It is really unthinkable.

I was a child when this happened. So long as Football is played, this will always be folklore.

The goal that defined not only a WC, but also his performance in the whole tournament set a bench mark that has never been matched. RIP legend.

I can imagine, what happend in Argentina after this goal, this match was Argentinians second war against England.

My dad doesn’t like Maradona and he honestly hates that they won this World Cup. He couldn’t believe that the first goal counted but when he saw the second goal he was like “that’s the greatest play I’ve ever seen”.

Diego was something from other planet. Even if he were playing in our time, he would compited as one of the best if not the best of all. Also, he had a personality as no other player had. The only problem of Diego was the lack of discipline during his prime.

To do this on the grandest stage when the whole world is watching separates immortals from great players. Not just an icon but had the personality to go with it. RIP Maradona
