wow, that cat had a lucky escape at 7:15! ...great compilation but the Deltics win it.....that drone is just like nothing else. Unlike most diesels the Deltics have a distinctive sound. The modern diesels sound quieter and more refined. Would have liked to have seen a 'Thumper' included here!
The deltics always sounded freat, probably the best sounding ever The sulzers though had a magical sound The humble class 24 to 27 sounded magical on idle.
You guys would all love the sound of The 48 class alco's they haul coal and grain with here in Australia they have a big throaty burble to them and they usually are made up of quad loco's and 70 carriages ( bins) . Absolutely love the sound of them working hard
That cat had it well under control: 1. Evaluate oncoming speed and distance of train. 2. Determine optimum paw rotation to freak driver whilst still ensuring safe passage across tracks. 3. Once committed to the sprint do not swish tail or think about mouse or other felines, just get to other side. 4. After crossing complete forget about it and look to secure dinner. 5. Say nothing to owner once home. 6. At home purr loudly and dream that winding up train drivers is cat sport. Hey Dude, nothing happened :)
Lucky cat , cat probably cat thinking not to worry its only a tractor they go slow, ohh wait a minute this tractor is fast better hurry lol. Amazing video
Thanks for sharing that, nice locations and good sound, after a lifetime of only liking steam, I'm just starting to appreciate the great British engineering that went into our older diesels
Great sounds and visual effects. Brought back memories of travelling on BR in the sixties and seventies, when we used to call 47s 'Brush Type 4s' Spotted the cat using up one of its lives. Would have liked to have known the names of all the stations and other locations. Thanks.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed. Location information is usually incorporated within my videos or their associated descriptions; however, I understand this video did not include this information.
Outstanding thrash compilation Kyle, great work! Thought 55007 at 2.20 was a moped before she appeared!! Until the 334 drags up here I never knew how noisy the Deltics could be! Understand the Napier engines are actually two stroke - found that hard to believe, but true. The sound quality on the video was excellent, do you use an external mic and if so, what make is it? I use a Panasonic to match my cam. Thanks. Ken
Thank you, Ken. It's surprising how loud the Deltics can be - 55007 (55022) certainly being no exception. All footage recorded here utilised the internal microphone with my camcorder, but an external microphone is something I'm looking to upgrade to in the near future.
Richard Woodward, I don't know, the CLYDE built GM EMD567 with a roots blower that were installed in our N.S.W 42 and 421, VICTORIAN B, S and X class loco's sound pretty awsome, as does EMD 645 with a blower as in our N.S.W 422 and 3rd series VICTORIAN X class. (these are australian locos). They always send a shiver down my spine and make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
They all sound like tractors. The Deltic is my favorite BR diesel locomotive. How much hp are these engines? What kind of main engines do they use? I'm a retired US engineer, and this interests me. I've been to England a few times, the railway museum in York was great. This is one of the better videos I've seen, great work.
Great video and thanks for the upload Is the one at 6.00 min a 2 stroke diesel ? Just started a fascination with old diesel trains especially the awesome class 37
Classy chassis , nice head and serious grunt ... When garre de femme ruled the tracks 🤔 Are we allowed to say that , probably not but we just did 😎 Happy new year come join the future , it's called CHANGE 😄
Cant understand why people like the Deltic sound so much. They sound like their powered by a couple of knackered Hillman Imp engines to me! Give me a 37, 68 or EMD SD90 any day!
Great compilation, missing just the tat Whistler class 40. I think also class 20 was underestimated for their thrash even though pretty under powered compare to the rest. Brings back fantastic carefree years as a keen spotter in the 70s
Lovely compilation, but CWR - I hate it! Spotters today are missing out on the excitement element we oldies loved so much; loose and sometimes bolt-missing fishplates which, when hit head on by a full train’s wheelsets, was deafening! Yes, spotters today are only getting 50% of the action - can you imagine what it was like on Mainline 1950s?! (And before!). Oh, and Deltics running on one engine - what a shame 50% missing again!
Hi, I am making a short video about the history of a pub and there is a short memory of catching a train in 1971. I wonder if you would give permission for me to include a 5-10 sec clip from one of your videos showing a possible train of the time running?
