Airing down won’t help much with that heavy of a truck with those big wheels. Not enough sidewall to allow the tire to flex or flatten out.

The real problem here is weight, not tires. Those are just “all-terrain” tires, nothing more than an aggressive street tire. Aggressive tires on sand aren’t a problem if you know how to drive. I exclusively run some of the most aggressive tires made on my vehicles, with zero issues. If it ain’t digging, you don’t have traction, thus not going anywhere anyway. Airing down on that truck won’t help either because it doesn’t have enough sidewall to flex or flatten out.

I’ve only got 56’ of cable. I’d have been right up on the truck if I did a two part line, with no room to work, and putting myself in the soft sand too. Winch didn’t even bow up on the hydraulics like it was overloaded. Almost like I knew it wasn’t necessary. Would it have helped? Absolutely.

@@Towtruck_Dustin So you are telling me that the pentstar 3.6 (basically a minivan engine, that already produces LOW torque and now you add 43” tires to even further reduce the pulling power would of pulled out that 8k truck with at minimum a 3k trailer ? Hard to believe unless you added some gearing and didn’t have the 3.6 in it. I am 56 years old and have seen a lot of people think their rig can do more than it really can just because it looks like it can. My wife owns a jeep and that engine is a nothing burger with 33” tires and you are running 43” tires ? So in short unless you have done a ton of modifications to your Jeep I highly disagree with you. It doesn’t even have the weight to counter how much weight you would need to pull. I have a F350 diesel tremor with the high output 6.7 and would not even attempt to yank it out. I would try with my winch but even tho my truck weighs so much it would probably just pull MY truck towards him on that sand. It’s like you saying a Ford Raptor R could have pulled him out and we both know that’s not true, heck it was starting to pull YOUR tow truck.

I use Yankum Ropes. If you watch, I say in the video I was hoping to use it, but couldn’t because of the angles.

It wouldn’t have, and would have put a huge sidepull on the hydraulics and pivot pins. Winching with the bed in the locks is always better unless you can get straight and need a low pull.

I have a 1999 F350 Quad Cab Dually with a 7.3 in it that is only two wheel drive (unless you count four tires from the dually that is). I have a camper that loaded weighs over 4000lbs and I pull a 14ft car trailer loaded with two vintage Honda Odyssey ATVs. I drive in the sand all of the time and only got legitimately stuck once, my first time and that was because I only aired down to 30psi. I now run between 15 and 20 psi on regular road tires on stock rims (no off-road tires or anything like that). I go on the sand dunes almost every trip. It takes a lot of planning, preparation and steady driving. I don't floor it in the sand, a sure way to bury yourself... we scout out our route beforehand and we air down beforehand. I'm sure there will be times in the future where I will get stuck and need a tow but the point is, people think that their big lifted 4x4 trucks with huge rims and skinny tires makes them an off-road machine yet they always get stuck and I drive right by. It's all in the air pressure. By the way, once I get to my site, I use my on board air to reinflate the tires to hold the weight of the truck and camper then air back down when we are ready to leave.

Brand has nothing to do with it getting stuck. But any of the 8,000+lb trucks in its class in the same spot and bet it gets stuck.
