according to wikipedia the only diesel engine offered in that model is a 2.8 american made Cummins engine. Maybe it is true what the car salesman says in the clip about the oil from the factory being of bad quality

You'd love to see my Freightliner. It chugs like a train for about a minute until it finally thins the oil out. 920k miles and it starts on the first try evey time. Truck is a pile of shit otherwise, but it's reliable.

The amount of vehicles with almost NO fuel in them just boggles me. Like, even if you do manage to get it cranked, you don't have enough fuel for it to warm up properly, let alone get to a fuel station

You are definitely right about the BMW's, 320d E46 with the m47 would turn for ages before starting if the battery wasn't 100% but also have a Freelander with the detuned m47 and even though the glow plugs don't work it starts much faster than the BMW regardless of the battery condition

The hot water in cold steel can crack it. I'd never recommend hot water on anything for a vehicle in the winter. I've seen cracked windshield, cracked valve covers, busted lock cylinders, etc from hot water.

Here in Brazil we don't suffer with diesel engines because the minimum temperature in winter here is -2°C. But here there are many 100% alcohol engines and cars from the 80's and 90's use engines from the 50's and 60's only modified to run on pure alcohol. There is a FORD engine that we use called CHT and this engine is 100% Alcohol and even at 5°C it is harder to start than all these cars in the video, even when injecting gasoline the engine suffers to turn on. It has the Chevrolet FM1 and 2 engines that are the same thing, the best alcohol engines are Italian

Говоря об алкоголе, мы большие поклонники вашей водки, люди в вашей стране пьют много алкоголя Люди здесь, в Бразилии, борются и тратят много денег из-за оригинальной водки из России, и я один из этих людей. У нас есть национальные водочные заводы, но ни один из них не может достичь качества настоящей русской водки. А еще мы большие любители автомобилей LADA, особенно Lada NIVA, одна из немногих машин, которая может ездить по амазонке с тяжелой трясиной.И много дорабатываем НИВУ, чтобы ехать внутри болота, а это затопленная земля, поднимаем подвеску и ставим шноркель. Превозносимая машина для конца света хахаха

My 2.0HDi has enough oil pressure to stop oil light while still cranking. And it doesn't need to crank over 5 sec while -10.

Исправный дизель и нормальное топливо должен в -30 спокойно заводится. У меня сурф без накала заводился в -15градусов

@@stiralkadavalka не бзди , без накала уже в -5 проблемы, тяжко запускается. В - 30 можно конечно запустить с антигелем в зимнем топливе но лучше не нужно износ высокий, проще раз в 3 часа погрев на сигнализации поставить.

@@stiralkadavalka ну норм крутить 40 секунд в холостую, если стартер не редкий и не находится в заднице у мотора то так ещё можно. Просто у меня стартер редкий и снять его это надо иметь навыки проктолога. Поэтому я стараюсь беречь ресурс стартера.

He's probably trying to get it to hold idle. It doesn't sound like he's revving it that hard and if he wasn't it'd probably just stall

@@goncaloferreira6863 1:01 how much rpm is that on dead cold diesel.alsonthis had manual choke and it wouldnt just stall,it would idle little lower if bosch pump and injectors are OK.This is not way to do it,sorry.
