of course it(fruit mentos) worked, ian. the reaction isn't a chemical reaction, it's a physical reaction. the surface of the mentos provokes the CO2 in the coke to turn into gas form rapidly, causing a sudden, rapid expansion that the bottle's neck concentrates, creating a jet effect. pretty much forcing an explosion through the bottleneck. this was also demonstrated by your socks. it was helping it fizz because your socks had a surface that sped up the fizzing process. also, when you put two packets in simultaneously, it didn't work because the CO2 was blocked by the packets.

The reason why it only sprays when you put a Mento in a Coca Cola bottle and not the tub is because the bottle is a compressed space so when you do it in a bottle the release for air is extremely intense, so the tinier the space, and the more there is, the more the BOOM

My prediction before the video: It works in a bottle because the mentos and coke create gas which will make the coke want to escape the bottle. I dont think a lot is going to happen in a bath. I think its just going to bubble a bit.
