Diet Coke and Mentos Performance @ Maker Faire Detroit 

I saw the same performance at maker faire San Fransisco.

But the question . Is the diet coke / minto reaction chemistry or nano technology . My perception is that the structure of the surface of the minto is freeing the carbon dioxide , rather than a chemical reaction . I am not suggesting I am right , please advise . Regards Bob ( London UK )
