After 5 years since Dieu Nhi’s last met with Dustin in “Caraoke with Dustin”, she has come back to Dustin On The Go and guested on Bar Stories to talk about the movie project “Bay Ngot Nghao” (the Sweet Trap) and her 7-year journey of furthering the role that made a name for herself - Linh Dan in the sitcom “Chien Dich Chong E”. Especially, this 37th episode of Bar Stories was made as a lovely gift from Dustin On The Go to Dieu Nhi on her birthday.
We are quite familiar with some phrases the media uses to described Dieu Nhi, namely "the ugly girl among comedians", "the makeover from ugly to beautiful", etc. but we barely have the chance to know about the pressure that she, a young actor judged to be too bad-looking, has to face and her efforts to prove her competence in acting.
In this episode 37 of Bar Stories, Dieu Nhi admits that she was too naive to think that an actor only needs to be good at acting, even though she acknowledges that beauty is not a criteria to judge an actor and not every role needs a good-looking actor.
Despite being one of the actors descended from the theater and having won a Golden Apricot Blossom Award for her role of Thao in the play “Ma Nu Si Tinh”, Dieu Nhi is well-liked for her supporting roles in the field of filmmaking and sitcoms. The transformation in image and types of performances as well as the daringly will to renew and take up challenges to develop are the most valuable things about her. Always imbued with the saying of her teacher, the outstanding artist Tran Minh Ngoc - " There is no minor role, only actors with minor caliber ", Dieu Nhi has never thumbed her nose at any role or compared her screen time with other colleagues. She always tries her best to make the audience feel the character in the movie, not the ego of the actor in real life.
Dieu Nhi says that being called a comedian gives her more pressure than happiness, whenever she thinks that her talent is to bring laughter to everyone and and relieve their stress. She wants to be called by her name and remembered by the audience simply as an actor, because only then will she be given the opportunity to try many different roles and performance genres and to constantly renew and develop herself more in the profession.
For the first time, the BAR LIVE section experimented two different types of performances in the same cozy space of Bar Stories. This time, Juky San - a former student of musician Duc Tri, who is now working independently - will perform the song Phai Chang Em Da Yeu, which is currently among top songs in many music charts. Minh Ti, an artist and a stand-up comedian from Saigon Teu, will also bring a gentle and cosy story about the "short ego philosophy”to the show.
