Nobody else did, Scottie Tate! Sadly, Dana died tragically of an overdose in May of '99, and Gary would buy the farm eleven years later. With the subsequent deaths of Conrad Bain (in 2013) and Charlotte Rae (in 2018), Todd is the last surviving original cast member of "Diff'rent Strokes."
Todd is also the last surviving original cast member of "Diff'rent Strokes," sad to say...I always thought he'd be the first cast member to kick the proverbial bucket, but luckily Todd saw the light and cleaned up his act.
It's what happens when Hollywood dictators give you everything and make you feel so important and then 1 day act like they never knew you. No so longs no goodbyes just a Eff off and cut all ties. For adults it's hard but it's devastating to a teen who is left in the cold Typcast and no one returns calls.
She looked so good on this program, Dana was very professional, regardless of what she was going through in her personal life at work, she was focused. TV was good for her, and she just wanted her career back, she wanted to work with what she was prepared for, but they took everything away from her after the pregnancy. She was beautiful, charismatic and talented but they dismissed her because she decided to become a mother at a very young age. The industry was very cowardly towards her, they turned their backs, fired her, didn't give her another chance and still kept using her personal problems as an audience. Several artists had problems with addiction, even worse than Dana, and they didn't lose their work, Hollywood was cowardly, I wouldn't have put up with everything she went through
It's exciting, yet bittersweet, to see Todd, Dana, and Gary back together again! I remember watching this interview when it originally aired back in 1997! If memory serves, this was probably the first--and last--time the three main "Diff'rent Strokes" cast members had reunited in many years!
Actually, @@gmail4218--the interview aired in November of '97; "Vibe" (along with its "sister" late-night talk show, "The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show" [coincidentally, both programs debuted on the same night in August of '97]) was canceled in the spring of 1998. Thanks for commenting, bro.
Awesome seeing all three together!! Goosebumps. Dana was gorgeous!! Dana was struggling later in life yet Sinbad didn't try to humiliate as insider tv show did to Gary. They provoke Gary then say he's the one with issues. I applaud Gary for flipping the bird to the insider. Shame on them. Unlike Sinbad class act! He celebrated Dana birthday. Not try to focus on any struggles in her life. Sinbad did it as should be a great interview!! Without knowing it. Sinbad interview was instant classic all three together at same time.
@@ruanacaciosinesiodasilva2841 I've always thought that!!! Sinbad keeps it real but isn't a wolf more like a Sheppard like Jules from pulp fiction movie. He only looks down to lift up, on real issues when can really hurt ppl. He isn't wicked like stern. Class act! Dana was like a sheep got eaten up at stern show by wolves. Felt so bad to see that. I regret not looking her up as a fan cheering her up. At times lil things mean the most. Anyway stay up Ruan.
Just to think that Dana died 2 (if this was 1997) years later, days after that infamous interview with Howard Stern and Coleman died 13 years later unceremoniously. Just like with Macaulay Culkin parents who exploited him and took over all of his money... Child actor parents need to be scrutinized heavily.
I remember recording this on VHS when it originally aired, and watching it multiple times. Unfortunately, the tape ran out at the 5:01 time frame of this clip. Thank you so much to the uploader for bringing back this gem! Everything from that time frame to the end of the clip, seems so brand-new.
Sin bad a class act. Considerate good heart!! Insider tv show filth. They provoke Gary then say he's the one with problem not them. Sinbad brought out their friendship ..Dana was struggling... Yet Sinbad focused on her birthday. Celebrated her. Classy thing to do by Sinbad!!
@@Wh4L205 Also, she was just happy to be in the spotlight again after the turbulent life she lived in the years following Different Strokes. For a brief moment she was able to pretend everything was okay. Sadly when the taping of this show was over and they said goodbye, she went back to living in her motorhome and the darkness that was her life.
@@1977TAyour comment makes alot of sense and is prob spot on. She looks well here and according to everyone was a lovely person. But my goodness she had her demons . Mainly with drugs. Alcholic and depression. She would be dead a few years after this die to drug overdoses and perhaps suucide
I mean….. You could exactly SEE the genuine love between them. I mean. You would have thought they were doing an episode on Dif’frent Strokes, being on The Sinbad Show. They were acting just the same as their characters. 🤣🤣🤣 You CAN’T script that.
It was a short lived late night talk show called 'Vibe' on UPN Sinbad replaced the original host Chris Spencer who was let go. It got cancelled not too long after this episode aired
I enthusiastically concur, myron X! A surprise appearance by Conrad Bain (as well as Charlotte Rae) near the end of the interview would've been perfect!
Im watching AUTOPSY: THE LAST HOURS OF DANA PLATO....they discuss the cast on sinbad show as taking place November 6 1997. 18 months before Dana's death. Wiki says this show ran btw 1993-1994. What gives? Edit...nm...its the vibe chat show hosted by sinbad. The other was his sitcom. I remember that show. But vaguely remember his hosting gig. My bad.
The networks controlled the actors lives "WAY TOO MUCH back then. With Dana's pregnancy they could have written around it and ignored that it happen. But Gary's age vs his size was caused him to be type casted to a child. Several things (more well known now) killed the show. But again its the networks expecting the actors to be perfect and wholesome in real life let alone their characters that is what was ridiculous.
it was a talk show called Vibe. it started with a different host and it was failing and they got rid of him and brought in Sinbad to try and save it but it was sadly too late.
@@andyduff5897 yup! Chris Spencer was the original host. You might know him as Preach from Don't Be A Menace. He was also on the Jamie Foxx show in the later seasons.
