We aren’t. :) It’s not just a bonding thing (as someone has pointed out) but it also weeds out people who aren’t in it for the right reasons (ie. just wanting to party). You graduate the university, not the sorority/fraternity.

Last time I went to a frat party, a big brawl happened in the backyard, I was sober and everybody fighting was drunk I just went into the huddle to slap people, I didn’t even know what the fight was about.

I was in a sorority and I loved it. I met a lot of nice women that I’m still friends with 20 years later. Sometimes sororities/fraternities get a bad rap, but there are positive experiences out there, too.

Oof, I don't miss college. Classes 8am or 9am for like 3-4 hours. Then I get like an hour break and have to go to work. Work for like 6 to 8 hours. Then get home from work and study and do assignments for like 2-4 hours. Then I sleep for like 3 hours. Rinse and repeat. Don't miss it at all. Didn't even have time for a social life.

My only advice for freshman is to actually try in those classes that are 'too boring or too easy' they help you maintain a good gpa and if in your first year tou get a good GPA is a good cushion for the years left!!

aw. Sana all. Here in Philippines, We attend school 7:30 in Morning up to 5 in noon sometimes even 6, imagine for 10 months. we almost spend half of our life studying

Ngl frat parties were so messy! Someone had to know you to get in, some were racists and didn’t allow groups of anyone who wasn’t white, etc but obviously it would different from school to school and which frat/sorority. One of the frats had to get shut down at my school because they burned the frat house down LOL. but college in america is definitely filled with a lot of partying lmao i should have done more studying but it was tough to adjust to that kind of freedom coming from a strict household. no one was telling me to go to class or to apply myself more 😭 and once your GPA starts off bad it’s so hard to get it back up

don't worry, i didn't know anyone when i went to college back in the day and i found easiest way to meet people is joining clubs i was interested in..or can do the greek life too if your school has it and you're interested.

Here in Brasil it's tottaly different. College is really hard. I major in civil engineering. And we didn't have time to party so much. We partied more in the first year of college. In the end of the semester we were like crazy doing papers, tests, working. And it was really hard to pass in the disciplines. Because the professor they want you to suffer hahaha. So major in engineering, mathematics, physics are the most difficult.
