Measurement Systems Analysis (4th Edition AIAG) is a key step to any process improvement effort. By understanding existing measurement systems, a team can better understand the data provided by those systems and make better business decisions.
To understand Measurement System Analysis (MSA) effectively, the understanding of keywords like Repeatability, Reproducibility, Bias, Linearity, Stability, Drift, Accuracy is important. Once we have clarity about it, it becomes easy to understand the importance of selecting an appropriate measurement system and how it can impact our decision making (Type I and Type II error).
Bias: The difference between the observed average of measurements and the reference value.
Linearity: The change in bias over the normal operating range. A systematic error component of the measurement system.

Dear Abhi, thanks for your query. As per MSA 4th edition (AIAG), the acceptance criteria is defined for R & R % and nothing specific to Bias.

Sir, suppose in a 300 mm vernier, in first 100mm i am getting error free value but with the same vernire in 100 to 200 mm range i am getting error in a dimension wrt the precised measured value. Is that lenearity error?

One more thing sir, i am doing MSA study at supplier end. All apprisers are skilled and experienced. But my R & R values are going very high far more than 30%. But measured values are within USL and LSL. Please guide where is the problem and will you please explain one MSA in excel in a video
