Flocculated: 1. Have loosely packed aggregation called floccules/floccs 2. Faster sedimentation 3. Doesn't form cake after sedimentation 4. Redespersible 5. Clear supernant Deflocculated: 1. Separate entities 2. Slow sedimentation 3. Forms hard cake after sedimentation 4. non - redespersible 5. Cloudy supernant 👍👇
The Ideal suspension is, easily redispersible and slowly sediment. But both of class is not met the Ideal suspension. But in overall I thought Flocculated suspension is better.
In flocculated suspension, drug particles are entrapped in a network of floccules and their effective surface area exposed to gastrointestinal fluids is reduced. This decreases the dissolution rate of drug particles as per Noyes and Whitney's equation. This is reason why flocculated suspensions have low bio-availability.
