What is an electrical isolator?
Electrical isolator or disconnector is a type of mechanical switch that is used in electric circuits and devices with the main function of effectively isolating two different parts of an instrument or power circuit. By definition, isolation is the process of complete separation of various parts of an apparatus and this separation can either be physical or electrical or both.
Electrical Isolator switches are used for opening an electrical circuit in the no-load condition. It is not proposed to be opened while current flows through the line. Generally, these are employed on circuit breaker both the ends thus the circuit breaker repair can be done easily without any risk.
What is MCB?
MCB or Miniature Circuit Breaker is an electromechanical device that protects an electric circuit from an overcurrent. The overcurrent in an electrical circuit may result from short circuit, overload or faulty design.
In short, MCB is a device for overload and short circuit protection. They are used in residential & commercial areas. Just like we spend the time to make a thorough check before buying appliances like washing machines or refrigerators, we must also research about Miniature Circuit Breakers.
An MCB is a better alternative to a Fuse since it does not require replacement once an overload is detected. Unlike a fuse, an MCB can be easily operated and thus offers improved operational safety and greater convenience without incurring a large operating cost.
What is a RCCB?
While electricity has become an indispensable component of our lives, the fact is, it comes with its own hazards to human life and property. Electrocution and fire being the two major risks associated with electricity, one cannot afford to be negligent when it comes to insulating equipment.
A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) is an important safety measure when it comes to protection of electrical circuits. It is a current sensing device, which can automatically measure and disconnect the circuit whenever a fault occurs in the connected circuit or the current exceeds the rated sensitivity.
Aimed at protecting an individual from the risk of electric shocks as well as electrocution and fires, RCCB is particularly helpful in instances of sudden earth fault. The presence of RCCB ensures that in such cases, the circuit will trip immediately and the person is thus protected from an electric shock.
What is an MPCB?
The full form of MPCB is Motor Protection Circuit Breaker. It is a type of protection device for electrical equipment that is designed to especially protect the motors. In addition, MPCB is also used to protect the associated circuits of the motors from electrical overloads and faults. As its name implies, it breaks the current circuit at times of electrical faults and protects the machinery from damage. It is different from MCB, MCB is used for a wide range of circuit protection functions, whereas MPCB is specifically designed for the protection of electric motors.
What is a MCCB?
A moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is a type of electrical protection device that is used to protect the electrical circuit from excessive current, which can cause overload or short circuit. With a current rating of up to 2500A, MCCBs can be used for a wide range of voltages and frequencies with adjustable trip settings. These breakers are used instead of miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) in large scale PV systems for system isolation and protection purposes.
