Excellent, very informative video. I’m not a business owner but I was an operations mgr for over 34 years - Joe would be every mgr’s dream team member - Brad very fortunate to have this guy….👍

Thanks so much Andrew and Joe Joe you keep stepping it up! These videos and information are top notch and do an awesome job! There definitely is a difference of coaches and also where you choose to buy them from!

The XL2 with its steel skin is more of a true Americana to me, as a non-American. H3s are more European, so to me, livíing in Europe, the XL2s are more attractive
@MrSteffen1972
@MrSteffen1972 3 года назад
I can't quite agree with that in Europe, with a length of 12 meters, you don't get any parking spaces and high-end RV's are mostly on truck platforms, for example Concorde Centurion, and cheap fiberglass is not used, mostly aluminum bodies

Another great video, learned a bunch of great information. Could fine tune the audio but excellent and appreciated all Joe Joe's Insight on the differences. Always thought Brad was very Top Notch and steady looking for ways to excel and doing just that. Also glad he is sponsoring these great Andrew Steele Videos. Andrew is moving to Rock Star status.

Great video! I know for sure some of the XL2’s have a front straight axle on Air Ride vs the H3 buses use a front A-Arm independent Air Ride suspension. Which is why H3 rides smoother

Being as they're mechanically the same, I think it mostly comes down to personal taste and usage. Do you want bigger windows to enjoy the view or are you willing to sacrifice storage space. I would imagine quite a few have come on the market because the owner didn't learn until after buying it that they needed what "the other" coach provided. Nice and informative upload Andrew many thanks 👍

H3 for rock and roll touring, you can stand a Marshall cab up in the bays. XL2 for a home away from home. 15 years, ten months a year living on tour busses. Great video, always felt safe on Prevost.

You had me all the way until that line " we are a no haggle dealership" this type of business model is a big red flag. There is always room. No dealer and I mean even the big boys don't have that philosophy. But thats ok, but he is correct about they sell themselves. I just made a deal on a 1996 H3 Vantare and they pulled that at the end, and what do you know they haggled harder LOL. Great Video Andrew as always thanks for bringing this to all of us here in RU-vid land. Almost at that 100K mark congrats
@steeldavidson
@steeldavidson 3 года назад
@@kdub1666 There is always a haggle, buyers market, sellers market. If the coach sits then the price changes and they are not in the business to hold onto them.

It would be nice to hear more details about the materials used in the frame, the side panels, the roof more detail. For example, what portions are stainless steel versus galvanized steel versus aluminum. I know depending on the year some of them have a fiberglass front cap and rear cap some are steel. More detail about all of this would be interesting.

@andrew. Love the content. Man love the H series look, being 6’ 4” ceiling scares me. The X better ceiling, but neither competes with Newell. My Blessed to be comparing all these as possible units.

"H" means "high floor". By far the single most significant difference is simply that the floor is higher on the H-series than the X-series; that is the reason for more storage space under the floor, and for the extra step up in the H3 behind the driver's seat. Prevost provides specifications online for all of their products, so you can see the differences.

When you take delivery of a coach you said it may take up to a week. Does the Motor coach Store have a camp ground for the new owners to experience living and getting familiar with the coach to stay in?

I'm old school. Learned the ropes driving fire apparatus. With this in mind, piloting a Prevost is a pleasure. I cannot overstress this, RVs are one thing, but these vehicles are true commercial buses. If you aspire to own and drive one, seek proper training if you can. I have had to learn how to maneuver these machines in the dark, on crowded streets, in the dark. At the same time, positioning the apparatus for access to the bays, and hydrants. Driving a Prevost for pleasure? Yes indeed. Both models are brilliant. But, one must be cognizant of how large they are. Be prudent, be safe, and enjoy. Oh, my preference? Metal sides and bulletproof bays. I love the 91 Custom Coach with the 8v92. The people at Prevost Car Canada 🇨🇦 are wonderful. The new machines? Brilliant. Well, I'm just an old guy. I'm biased. I love the old style, and ribbed sides.

No, typically a privately-owned recreational vehicle is exempted from licensing requirements that would normally result from the size, but you likely need an air brake license endorsement.

I love Andrew's videos but there are two important things left out. The roof and undercarriage. That's very important. I don't care what a seller says, a undercarriage inspection tells the untold story. Air bags ,air leaks, bushings, bottom out damage, and coaches 10 years and older inspection for bent chassis.

No openable passenger door window on the H3 which is a major downer. Crack that window on the XL2/X3 and someone can have a smoke on the passenger seat gking down the road. Can't do that on the H3.

The XL2 is an obsolete model for something like 8 years. It was replaced by the X3 model. The H3 is a currently built model. That aught to be at least mentioned.
@garynelson4306
@garynelson4306 3 года назад
K Dub We had our 1994 H3 with the Series 60 Detroit Diesel for about 245,000 miles. It was working fine when we traded up. But it did require maintenance including lots of major pieces like the heat exchangers (radiators), turbo, generator, etc. It was a reliable power plant but not without issues. We’ve got about 95,000 miles on our current X-3 with the Volvo engine. It is way quieter, way cleaner and so far has only required routine maintenance. No major parts replacements. That is likely because it is newer. But it is also because it is a reliable engine. I don’t think the newer emission systems are less reliable. They do have parts and those parts sometimes require maintenance. So far only the DEF pump, which was replaced at a campsite we parked at when the system told us it was time to get service. Prevost came mobile to our site and we were on our way in about 5 hours. Most that time was to fetch a part.
