@@NikhilSingh-gt1fz thanks ❤️, that is why I am keeping same music in all videos and black background as few ppl watch my videos at night so I don't want to strain their eyes while watching my videos ❤️😊
Sir so interms of lights, can you tell if the vessel is making way on not by lights only, because if im not mistaken if you're underway you'll have your navigation lights on
Already Made brother, watch this video about 4 stages of collision, you will get an idea about it 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uZH-uYr8OYs.html
I think that this rule is oftten not applied because one can see a lot of cases in wich we can read underway in te AIS status even if it would be corret to indicate the making way status.
Good explanation ! These terms may seem very simple ? but indeed are very sensitive when entries made in ships log book by officers on watch , when it comes to clarifications in case of accidents? Good video 👍 much appreciated ! God bless you always 🙏
@sailor vikas great n informative video sir but for making way small amdement can be done on above condition 1) ship moving through water using engine. Bcoz according to sitn 5 engine is stopped but still moving through water .
Hampered vsls mentioned in rule 18 - NUC, RAM, FV ( Including trawler) and SV when showing sidelights are termed as making way, when not showing sidelights are underway. Pdv, CBD, seaplane, air cushion vessel, WIG craft, mineclearance vsl ( which is RAM) are underway when showing sidelights.
As explained in video 02.51 : making way means ship is in control by helm, as per your case, rudder is not responding means it's not making way, however it is complying with the definition of underway which is not at anchor, made fast or aground, thus such situation shall be considered as only underway !💯
Sir in situation no. 5 if STW is 0 and Speed over ground is 10 knots, since current is pushing us, rudder can still be effective ? And if effective it should be making way. Please clear it once. TIA
If current is pushing you than the water is moving along with the ship so ship is basically not cutting water as water is moving along with the ship, thus rudder is not effective here
Sir...we are drifting at sea..engines are on short notice ..drifting bcz..there is a delay in next port of call...what light signal should we show...i came through many disputes considering that as vsl not under command..please answer
Drifting is always UNDERWAY And lights to be shown of UNDERWAY and NEVER NUC Putting NUC is not permitted but still people put to let other ships keep clear of you.
Underway means not at anchor, made fast to shore or aground, in this situation ship is using her engines to manoeuvre, it may be cutting the water or may not be cutting the water if she has just started her engines, depends on STW.❤️
Underway, because definiton of underway in rule 3 says not made fast to shore, aground or at anchor ....so dragging anchor means vsl is not at anchor thus it's considered as UNDERWAY
@Claire Diestro : CPA is calculated on the basis of consecutive bearings and when their is an error in bearing input from Gyro to ARPA ( RADAR), It will affect as their is error in calculating CPA of targets.
@@mj_tv9357 when input are bearings from gyro, than output you get in ARPA is CPA thus your CPA range is in error if input is wrong, so navigation is affected because of wrong CPA. ( If company policy says to maintain minimum 2 miles CPA with other vessels than because of error in your CPA, your range might be closer than what is shown in ARPA ) So your navigation is not as per company standards. Thus navigation is affected. And it's dangerous if you are passing other vessels at close range as navigation officer gets wrong info. From the ARPA about CPA values
