Bread was key in high school and I remember the mkarango that used to be very popular in my high school as an urban youth that went to school upcountry, we had porridge, strungi and meat was a luxury one or two pieces if your lucky..also githeri with weevils..what jalango said is on point and jeff saying how it was terrible but that's what majority us that went to regular high schools anywhere upcountry had to endure..jeff must have gone to one of those rich upperclass high schools where food was just like in a restaurant he had it good.

Asubuhi 5am jamaa anatoroka na uji ya watu 10 eti mko kwa table awaletee ashaakula kona nayo, mkarangoo was for the chosen few, mkate was like Gold the rest gonna whistle the mfano wa chai, Those who went via K-School those days can attest. And that was life then, we thank God for thee far ametufikisha
genoveva murorunkweri Exactly!!! Your future does not rely on which school you went to.Nyangoma is just 5km away from my former school Nyamira Girls and that’s why I always enjoy jala’s school life stories coz it reminds me a lot. Please tell your children to make use of opportunity no matter the condition. Now see a St Mary student who studied journalism in New York sits on the same table with a Nyangoma guy who never had school fees to go to college. Jalango inspires me
