I know the whole educational component side of architecture can be really confusing! So I just hope these differences help you select the best architecture school for you!

Another way to do it is go to community college and start knocking out your GEs. Community college will usually offer minor classes in many fields. Once I knew architecture was the choice for me I transferred after 2 years into a 5 year program. Some of my classes transferred and took a little load off the fast pace environment of a 5 year program. Come 2020 I have my professional B.ARCH degree 😎 Nat hits the mark when she says architecture is not easy and is not for everyone but also the more you put in the more you get back!

Great video and very informative! I just finished my BS in Urban Planning and will be going to ASU for my M.Arch! It is a slight change because I started a MS in Transportation Management but I learned that I missed the creative and hands on component of my life as I used to create graphic novels in my younger years. This realization resulted in a slight educational change that ultimately I am excited for. Thanks for the content!

Thank you for making all these videos! I don’t have a bachelors in architecture but am wanting to transition and do my masters in architecture in hopes to become one. Would you say from your experience that truly any background can be considered? I have a Communications Bachelor Degree and it’s not as heavily math, art, or physics related in comparison to some of the majors you listed for people who were accepted without a bachelors in architecture. So I am a little concerned there isn’t a chance without me going back and taking those classes. I want to showcase a lot of my Sims 4 builds and I have some Art from art classes I have done. But not sure if that will be enough..

Hey Wensya! So really the only difference is the title. BS = Bachelor's of Science BA = Bachelors of Arts A BSwill require more S.T.E.M. classes to meet your graduation requirements (take more physics classes, science classes, math classes, etc) A BA will require less S.T.E.M. classes to meet your graduation requirements and you will probably take more art classes (painting, photography, visual classes, graphic design classes, etc) Hope that cleared things up!

I’m joining architecture this fall and my uni says that the B.arch degree is a professional qualification program that can get you licensed ?!
@UnravelingArchitecture
@UnravelingArchitecture 3 года назад
It CAN be and most times it is. But you must make sure your school clarifies that the B.Arch is a “professional” degree. There are some programs that label their B.Arch degree as “pre-professional”

How about the B.Des program in architecture?
@UnravelingArchitecture
@UnravelingArchitecture 3 года назад
Anything for your undergrad won’t really affect your ability to get an M.Arch degree! So if you want to get a design degree, definitely go for it! Design is a great field! I transferred my major from design to architecture actually. Just follow ur gut theres time to explore majors in college too!

@@UnravelingArchitecture does the duration of the undergrad degree matter?
@UnravelingArchitecture
@UnravelingArchitecture 3 года назад
@@harshinichandran1860 no what really matters to get a license to become an architect is your M.Arch degree/professional degree. This is why I stated in the video you can really major in anything for undergrad! What is key is your professional degree which you'll get in graduate school. So if you want to save some $$, definitely go to a 4-year university if you can(: At least that's why I recommend to save some money!! haha

@@chandanarao3164 Sorry to barge in uninvited, but I did my BS.Arch there and it was incredible. The graduate program gets even more attention than the undergrad. Taubman College has fellowships where talented young designers from all the over county are invited to teach studios. So the work produced there always feels fresh and on par with the rest of the big arch schools. Like she mentioned, amenities are absolutely great, but you really have to make the effort to utilize them and incorporate them into your studio projects. Unfortunately many students only use laser cutters since they're very convenient. The school had an expansion completed in 2017 and I am told the graduate studios are now even nicer than I remember. One thing to note is that Ann Arbor gets severally cold in the winter, which typically lasts five months. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

BArch is typically a five year degree. NCARB wouldn’t require you do seek out another master’s degree, as a BArch is very specialized. a BS Arch typically is a Bachelors of Science in Architecture. this is a four year degree. But confirm with your school - some schools can be tricky!
