Dear viewers, if you like our content, please consider donating to support our work at quranspeaks.com Thank you, and may God bless you and your loved ones always!
Fyi - youtube is playing ads right before your donate message, this may cause confusion or lead to people not seeing the message, as it is now, at the end of videos. Not sure if it's a length/duration issue or not. Might be worth looking into.
I might consider donating if you cease and desist from abusing the the title of your channel... mainly because you have never "let the quran speak" but only giving the impression of "letting the quran speak." At best, you are merely using somebody else's opinion of what the quran is supposed to have said according to your chosen narrative. Salam.
He's knowledgeable. What I don't understand is why he dodges some of the most difficult aspects like S9.29-30. Muslims have a duty to kill the infidels, He's & Christians and the Quran is clear on why. Also he does not challenge Jesus crucifixion. He needs to teach us why!
Don’t care what anybody says this guys class and professionalism is unmatched. We live in a world where many people think it’s their way or the highway unfortunately. Very clear, concise and honest interview. This man promotes peace and not division like others. Blessings and peace 🙏🏾
It is a good observation, that following these discussions, people commenting, express goodwill, peace, and a type of companionship/fellowship. In this, there is correct thought and in terms of sharing that via communication of words, correct action. The form is correct but the intention behind the form is authentic (it is what it is) and original (it is from within). I wonder if in the story of the afternoon prayer this was the reason why both groups were considered correct in their choices for prayer? I am v glad I heard this story from the times of The Prophet, retold, by Dr. Shabir Ally.
I've seen some of the videos against Dr. Shabir. I must say, I agree with Dr. Shabir's message 100%. The issue I see is many Muslims placing ritual over faith.
I know Muslims who pray 5 times a day and at the end of the day think they are superior to other Muslims because of their caste (it's an Indian thing of hierarchical division), so yup, Islam is about equality and imaan and not just prayers and Quran's recitation.
I am a Catholic Christian but I really like to hear Dr Shabir Ally. Not only is Dr Shabir Ally an extremely knowledgeable scholar, he is a very humane and honest man. If only more Muslim apologists were this humane and honest!
I am a born Muslim and practicing but the literalist approaches to faith, while may suite some, have been having a very crippling effect on my spiritually and emotionally. The peach analogy made me have tears in my eyes-that's how I always thought Islam is from a practical perspective and it was great to hear in such an eloquent way. JazaKAllah for your efforts.
Dr Shabir you're the equivalent of a islamic hero to me as you've helped shed light in the beauty and science of studying Islam at a academic level and it is definitely something I would like to do in the future. Furthermore it has definitely strengthened my belief and understanding of Islam, may Allah reward you for your efforts. AS.
Outstanding, fair and scholarly answers to these complex and difficult questions. You are valuable assets to all of us and I like your beautiful smiles.
Jazakallah my dear sheikh. This video needs to be echoed some how across all the youtube islamic communities - particularly the literalist salafis. May Allah reward you for all you do for us PS- to those who dont know this was an indirect response to farid responds and sajid lipham
People are trying to be like the sahaba yet they will never be like them! They had the best guide that could walk the earth and teach them.....we have not! There is a hadith in which the Prophet alaihi salatu wa salam calls us ( the muslims in the future after his passing, peace be upon him ) brothers because we believe in him, love him and follow his commands as good as we can yet we never saw him! So beautiful!
@@ddodipura they made a video with a summarised conclusion of bis beliefs and call him a heretic. They are simpleton salafis who dont understand the full scope of islam
I stopped listening to those clowns long time ago. They’re always looking for fellow Muslims to refute and atheists to debate- never seen them promote anything good … always divisive and rude in their approach.
yes, yes yes. There are so many different scholarly opinions and I get so irritated when someone tells me that the way I practice is wrong. people act like there is only 1 Islam. but there isn't. We are all different. and there are so many different scholarly opinions. I really think this literalist Salafi way of practicing Islam is pushing the rest of us who are not them out.
As much as I agree with the first part of your comment, the last part says the opposite of how you want people to behave towards you. Salafis as much as any other group are individuals that may be right at times and wrong at others. And the acts of the individual shouldn’t be used to cast a judgment on a group. The essential thing is to do our best to seek the truth and follow the best practice with the intention of pleasing our Creator and not to simply follow our whims, and to avoid judging others, recognizing that we are all prone to err and to be misguided.
I am currently a Christian, but I've been learning about Islam through an Imam that I met through my local MMA fight school (he is the brother of one of my teammates). I'm very much drawn to this religion and am learning as much as I can. This channel is a great resource.
Congratulations on your path brother 🎉 1. Linguistically Allah Elahi Eloah Alaha are all linguistic cognates for the one God not "gods" ilah is generic God in Arabic Allah is The One God in Arabic eloh is generic God in Hebrew Elohim is plural so can be used for Gods Eloah or Eloheinu is The One God in Hebrew Hebrew prayers still use Eloheinu e.g. Baruch ata Adonai Eloheinu 2. Aramaic Hebrew Amharic and Arabic are all within the same family Semitic modernly or Afro-Asiatic 3. Factually Prophets such as Joshua Isaiah Elijah all praise YHWH ( btw YaHuWa in Arabic means "Oh He Is" or "Oh He Is the only one who ever was , is , and will ever be." HU and HUWA are referring to the Most High) 4. but what about all the -el prophets names in the Bible? Such as Ezekiel Daniel Ishmael these names praise Eloah or Alaha/Ilahi or Allah s.w.t. 5. Michael Gabriel also the Angels of heaven have -el names only 6. There are at least 72 names of God in Judaism and at least 99 in Islam many are identical Ar Rahman ArRachaman HaShem Hashim El Kodesh Al Quddus Ahad Echad Eloheinu Allah
I just like how this response was done so indirectly, with so much respect and not calling anyone out. It became not only a response, but a good learning lesson.
The youtube refuters know that following the "methods" not just "conclusion" will foster chaos (re: 73 sects). But the rationalisation and tolerance raised in this session makes one wonder why the same is not apllied when dealing with other religions.
Dr. Alley's fluency's is light upon light. His views are totally unbiased and easy to understand. May Allah increase his knowledge, his health, and his rewards. Thank you and best regards.
SubhanAllah, a very detailed and a clear view on how sects came up. It encouraging to see how Islam is such a modern religion yet conservative in a way to protect the best interest of the believer.Allah sure is Merciful. Thank you Dr. Shabir for throwing light on a few concerns that every believer comes across, we as followers look upon YOU when it comes to guidance from a progressive perspective.
Fantastic video. We MUST engage in scholarship. It is enjoined to us by the Quran repeatedly. I think it's worthwhile to note that groupthink is real, and that many of these bodies that issue fatwa are influenced by it along with the factors that influence individuals that Dr. Shabbir names. We can't rely on the judgment of others. We must consult the Quran itself.
Simple answer, it's Allah (SWT) who decides, but if someone with proof says the words of Allah then it doesn't mean we should say he is saying only what he wants, we should realise that he is actually saying what Allah (SWT) said.
The Dr Shabir is very eloquent and, if I was a weak believer in Jesus Christ, and did not understand His purpose on earth, I would be mislead into believing what he says. He is a true scholar, patient and well informed I'm his beliefs.
So the things that are clear in the Quran should be followed as they were presented while the unclear ones that gave space to different interpretations were probably left by Allah this way so that anyone can follow the i opinion that is more favourable to him as all of them are valid.
This video was so important for me, and it's helped me to understand the importance and respect we have to have for scholars. And I really love that although it didn't need to be said to be understood, but the distinction between youtuber "scholars" and real scholars was made, I really needed to see this video. Thank you, God bless you.
No you can’t only if you are on a Journey and i think it was 80km from your home at least to count as a journey.....check the fatwa for it! You are not allowed to pray a prayer outside of its designated timeframe because you are somewhere else and not home and then pray it
@@hariszukic5910 I don't know where you got that 80 k from home, but I'll use my judgement and handle it the way I see fit based on my understanding of what I've read.
I am dissapointed when online daiee accusing each other of misguidance, khariji or claiming there are the only sect upon haqq. Allah swt says only He guides people and only He knows who is the righly guided. So why are these online daiee accusing other muslims as misguided or they are the only one upon haqq?
If not sure, back to basics.....Al-Quran and Hadith Sahih. Very clear explaination....humans have freewill to make decision and decide on what would be best for a particular situation.
The QURAN IS THE ONLY THING THAT DECIDED WHAT DEEN ISLAM IS!! After the Quran the people DID NOT HOLD ON TO THE ROPE OF ISLAM AND BECAME DIVIDED. Now it seems the Mullahs and those scholars who profess to know it all, are the one's in charge. Dr Ally and your dear daughter, I hold in high esteem because your knowledge of the Quran and what it teaches is really excellent. Keep up the good work. Remember that the ONLY NOOR that Allah Gave us is THE QURAN. ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Easiest way to tell : if what u are doing is charity or love or kindness. It is probably okay. If it is hateful condemning or hurtful : it probably is not okay . Basic moral compass Allah allows us to have
I believe in One God (الله), day of Judgement, Angels and all the Prophets and Messengers (peace and blessings be upon them all) from Adam to the last Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon them.
I'd love to hear you discuss the phenomenon of Black American Islam, such as the Five Percenters and Nation of Islam, among others. How would you relate these to the Qur'an and to other measures of Islam?
@@jorgegif2570 the meaning does not change on grammatical error but by social evolution and social changes... the Quran is a book of prophecy and when that prophecy become manifest in the future time it becomes the truth...
@@jorgegif2570 there are different dialects, but the Quran has not lost its meaning and this is proven with the emergence of contemporary manuscripts from the time of the Prophet and Rashidun Caliphate. So, no, there aren't different versions like you have with the Bible.
I reverted from Catholicism and was familiar with the biblical stories and teachings. My wife was born Muslim and is not familiar with the biblical stories and teachings. When I read the Quran I find that the biblical stories are touched on but does not go into the same level of detail that the bible does. It is as if the Quran was written with the idea the people are already familiar with these stories. My understanding of some Quranic verses differs from that of my wife because I have come from another Abrahamic faith and I am familiar with the bible. It makes for some interesting discussions. Because my understanding differs does that mean I am not considered Muslim?
Probably the single greatest fear I have as a revert is having individuals assume positions of authority so as to provide absolute judgements on the nature of the Faith. For example it has become quite popular to decree the Messenger of God as the Last Prophet by dint on the Quranic reference to Mohammed (pbuh) as the "seal" of the prophets interpreted as "the finish". IMVVHO this misinterpreted the role of seals as Validation or Authentifiers in the World and usurps the determination of God to act as He will. It is quite common for individuals to allow ego to drive them from being well-informed to a position of absolute authority and such habits are of little help to me as a believer. FWIW.
We must always revert to the Quran for guidance and for all the answers. Secondly it is the books of Firq that give elaboration and NOT the man-made hadith.
Just two notes on this Q&A: 1. It's disappointing to me how scholars put Quran and Hadith beside each other. Although they certainly say they are not even comparable, practically they treat them the same. I mean if there is a "reliable" Hadith which describes a case more clearly than Quran, they see it compelling as if it is %100 true. If you believe in Quran, you must accept the total accuracy of it but anything else even though could be right, might be wrong as well. Ultimately they should be seen as any other opinion, regardless of time and the supposedly sayer. 2. Even the "hard core" of Islam which you said "we expect all the Muslims to abide by that" is not something universally accepted by all persons who consider themselves Muslims. The best example is Sunni's "5 pillars of Islam" which for Shias only 1 of them is a pillar and the remaining 4, although they embrace them as Islamic deeds, aren't pillars. At the end of the day, the humanly categorization of who is a *_Muslim_* is a vague thing and leaves us with a unreachable judgement of who is a *_muslim_*
1. Yes Hadith seems to be taken above the Quran, even when a hadith is vague and the Quran says nothing, they make a Haram ruling. Without clear proof. 2. They see everything has Haram by default until proven Halal. It should be the other way around. 3. If there is any doubt among scholars, how can something be Haram? All Haram things must be clear with no doubt.
why odd numbers have special meaning in Islam? 5 pillars, 5 prayers in a day, 7 layers of sky, 27th night in Ramdan, 9th month in Islamic year as the most holiest "Ramdan". etc
Still the textual world is the texture. Solid steel touching logic is the real matter, out of the text, putting texts into the tests and tests into texts,as tests donot need texts, and texts are more understandable with tests, like a lab proof
I am my judge, God is the best of judges. Its exclusively between individual and God as the Quran says. I judge Bukhari, Newton and even different interpretation of the Quran as to what to take and I am exclusively accountable to HIM and HIM alone.
But how scientific is this method of verifying something based on by word of mouth? Such as verifying the Sunnah based solely on the various chains of narrations?
Jurists classify hadith as strong, fair and weak depending upon which close companions and how many of them narrated the same words and practices of the Prophet PBUH with a complete chain. There is a science to it. This is not about an opinion, which is low level of evidence.
If anybody ever challenges me, I ask them if Islam belongs to their dad. If it doesn’t, then they are not allowed to say who is and who isn’t a Muslim. Nobody is allowed to revoke the membership to this club (so to say) other than Allah (and his Rasool pbuh whilst he was still alive)
@6min 42min. into the video, the interviewer said, "... they are trying their best to follow God and follow the prophet Muhammad..." Really? Could she please give a reference from the quran where Allah commands us to "obey Allah and obey the prophet Muhammad? However, there are numerous instances when we are commanded to "obey Allah and obey the Messenger" ... and when written this way, this is valid each time Allah's scriptures have been revealed to the messengers of its time. Even from, the latest, when the angel-messenger Jibrail brought the Quran to the last prophet or to, when earlier, the "honorable guests of Abraham" : 51:24 Has the story of Abraham's honorable guests reached you 51:25 When they entered upon him, they said, 'Peace.' He said, 'Peace, strangers.' 51:26 Then he slipped away to his family, and brought a fatted calf 51:27 He set it before them. He said, 'Will you not eat?' 51:28 And he harbored fear of them. They said, 'Do not fear,' and they announced to him the good news of a knowledgeable boy 51:29 His wife came forward crying. She clasped her face, and said, 'A barren old woman?' 51:30 They said, 'Thus spoke your Lord. He is the Wise, the Knowing.' 51:31 He said, 'What is your business, O envoys?' 51:32 They said, 'We are sent to a people guilty of sin.' 51:33 'To unleash upon them rocks of clay.' 51:34 'Marked by your Lord for the excessive.' 51:35 We evacuated all the believers who were in it 51:36 But found in it only one household of Muslims 51:37 And We left in it a sign for those who fear the painful punishment The household of Muslims are even to be found during the time of Abraham/Lot and even earlier during Noah, as is evidently clear here: 10:72 If you have turned away from my message, I did not lose any thing, for I did not ask any reward from you for my services: my reward is only with Allah, I have been commanded to become a Muslim." 10:73 But they disbelieved him. As a result, We saved him and those of them who were with him in the Ark and We made them successors in the Earth and drowned those who rejected Our revelations. You see what was the end of those who were warned but did not believe 10:74 Then after him We sent Messengers to their descendants. They came to them with clear signs but they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus, do We set seals upon the hearts of those who (intentionally) exceed the limits So, the command, "obey Allah and obey the messenger" has been around from the way before the time of the last prophet. Salam. now... if your assertion and assumption of "obeying everything that the "messenger" was supposed to have done" were true... then shouldn't you be refraining from eating/feasting on delicious food/meat. However, only the vegetarians and Hindus refrain from consuming beef... could it be that they "followed" a corrupted version of the above verse (51:27)?
I have been watching this channel for a very long time and I feel Dr Ally is by far one of the best scholars. Because I value your opinion so highly I wanted to ask to see if you have ever heard of Dr Hany from the RU-vid channel the marvelous Quran. He has established a methodology and I would love to hear your opinion on it. Your insight would be greatly appreciated.
There are Six Pillars of Islam. Please Include Jihaad (Starting from oneself = Tazkiya-e-nafas) as well. That is at many places mentioned in Quran as an incredible part of Emaan
If the quran is the everlasting perfect revelation from Allah an all powerful and almighty being why is it that when someone reads it they cant make sense of it so they have to go to their scholars to explain the meaning and it comes down to which scholar you go to, so did you go to the right one you will never know... to me God is not an author of confusion
Salam! I have been asking a question on y’alls website for months now and am not sure if you’re not receiving it, or if it’s not a good question lol. No hate was just curious.
Salam. Sorry about that. We don't have the resources to respond to questions by email; we select the most interesting questions and answer them on the show itself. They're usually broad questions (not fiqh-oriented). But given that we only answer 1 question in each show, it does take some time to get through the questions. We'll try to find a way to address questions faster.
Would love the Dr. To do a video on why the ancient scriptures that came long before the Qur'an discribe the attributes of the Antichrist in detail and why these attributes aline with exactly what the Mahdi will do and be when he comes in Islam ? Either we are being mislead or somebody changed some things and it's very concerning.
No, brother, u r upsulutly wrong , we have covenant ,He's my husband , since the starting we r wife n husband then how I go to my husband without any explanation ???
1 question does sunny islam 1 book where all understandings and rulling are writing And can be traise back to the quran ore mohammad. Ore islamic councils. Ore is there not such a thing in islam.
