Actually, there are other fragrances that carry that accord for my nose. And when I come across that accord it is always a delightful surprise. Cheers.
What can I say? Lights...camera...action...as everyone hits their marks, and Mr. Lanier delivers yet another precious-packed episode of Scent Memories with class & sophistication. Me? I'd probably wear Cholula Hot Sauce while in Mexico because I would be on a fajita fest...but not after watching this episode. Cheers!
This series is a refreshingly new video idea. And it looks like you really enjoyed comming up with these. Also, I really like the music you have chosen for these videos.
These are great videos. The first time I smelled De Los Santos by Byredo, I immediately smelled what I perceive to be a sage note that took me back to Mexico City. It reminded me of expensive restaurants and bars near El Zocalo. Vert Encens by Tom Ford reminds me of a night club / event center I once went to in Juarez. Tom Ford Noir de Noir reminds me of a hotel in Merida called Rosas y Xocaltes for obvious reasons.
Thank you, Ramsey, but it wasn't my idea, It was suggested by Simply Fragrances and he did it before me. But it is so much fun, and I am enjoying doing it. Thanks again to Simply Fragrances and to you for you lovely comment. Cheers.
Excellent selection of fragrances Lanier ! I would advise any person to follow your example while visiting ANY country- to immerse oneself in the history, culture and food and approach things with an open mind instead of the usual tropes and cultural stereotypes. P.S- Is that a picture of Liz Taylor and Richard Burton on top of your bedside drawer?
That is indeed the only way to travel. I personally love leaving what I know of my culture behind and simply opening my eyes and heart to what ever country I am in. Yes, it is, it was a gift from Her to me when I was 20. A long and wonderful story that partly involved my trip to Mexico in 1971. I should share that story with everyone someday. (Her autograph and Richard's have faded to nearly nothing in the last 53 years. But the memories never will.) Cheers.
Wow, I didn't know you had to have short hair to enter Mexico at one time? I also studied for a short time in Mexico City. Love Puerto Vallarta - was lucky to have gone twice! Another entertaining video - thank you.
Sad they discontinued Ostara. Still have half a bottle left of her. It smells like home here to me in Spring. Lots of Narcissus and Daffodils blooming and beautiful Wisteria and Spider lilies. Love my NE Texas realm too. Have to try a few on this excellent list and stories. Ty for sharing..... 💕
What a treat, thank you so much for sharing your stories and your life with us. It’s hard to find another person who can express the passion that they have for fragrances like yourself. It truly is a joy to watch your videos. I’m hoping one day I can make it to Mexico my self !
Mexico is a magnificent country with an amazing history and culture and people. And it's right next door. I think you will love it there. Cheers my friend.
Lanier, you produced another wonderful fragrance video. You mentioned so many fragrances that I have not heard of and I am going to look into buying. I do own Bois d'Argent by Dior and I love the fragrance.
Well I'm glad I could introduce you to some new fragrances. Yes Bois d'Argent is really nice. I'm so glad I discovered that heat brings out it's unique beauty. Cheers.
You mentioned two of my favorites, Orangers en Fleurs and Habanita! Though I was laughing when you said Habanita smells like tortillas, I smell tobacco and nutmeg most prominently. Thank you for another great video and a vicarious trip to Mexico!
@@laniersmith1798 Fragrantica says there are some 600 ingredients in Habanita, so I think it's possible that fresh tortillas are in there along with lots of other delicious things! :) :) :) I do so love your fragrance reviews. Your videos are a delight. Thanks again!
Lanier, so happy to see quite a few videos from you lately. I also love many of the fragrances from Aedes de Venustas. If you didn’t know it, Aedes fragrances can be purchased at their store in New York City. They have added several new fragrances to their lineup. Sadly their old bottles have been discontinued. Their new bottles are very nice, but not as grandiose. Take care 🌞🌞
Thank you Dennis! The next time I am in New York I need to seek out the Aedes de Venustas shop. It sounds like just my kind of place! Thank you for the wonderful comment. Cheers.
This a fantastic video, amazing story starting with the fact that train travels are no longer available in Mexico, train is used now mostly as a way to transport goods and raw materials, I had the opportunity to make 4 or 5 travels when I was a little kid, around the 90s that became very inefficient method of transportation, you were able to reach your destination faster taking a bus and of course a plane and by the year of 2000 the service was cancelled, there are some isolated cities where you can still use it but is not anymore a national method of transportation, those train travels were amazing the landscapes the nature in my country is fantastic, there are tons of things I can comment about your video, I have been in Jalisco state (Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta are cities of this state) in December I traveled to the beach but then for a few days I stayed with my girlfriend in Morelia, Michoacan is a beautiful state, but I'm afraid that I will write a complete novel of this comment if I keep going, you are without a doubt a legendary fragrance reviewer Lanier... Cheers from Monterrey, Mexico.
Fernando, I am so very pleased that you appreciated my take on Mexico, a treasure and gem of the Americas. thank you so much for your beautiful comment. Now knowing that train travel is extinct in Mexico I shall treasure my memory of that train trip all the more. There are so many more wonderful tales of my experiences in your beautiful country, but we shall have to save that for another day. Cheers mi amigo.
