Hope you were able to restore them! I bought a new one. Not a Stanley, just some cheap one because I was in a hurry. Well, you get what you pay for; piece of shite 😆 I'm also going to hunt down an old Stanley to restore - they seem to have a quality out of this world ✨
This was a very informative video. I only have a block plane and a number 4….. I think. Lol but they are expensive and I was trying to decide what to buy next.
Hey man. I enjoyed this video. What is a SCRUB plane? Is that the #5 plane too just different name? I bought a #3 & #4 smoothing & finishing planes. I got a Low angle Block plane too but that's all I have atm. Are they ok or is the #3 & #4 plane one in the same? Did I waste money on one or the other??
Scrub plane usually refers to one with a wide mouth and cambered blade that is able to remove large amounts of material quickly. There are dedicated scrub planes and also people sometimes turn #5 or #4s into a purpose built tool.
I'm like a kid in candy store, very much like what I see. I love my No.6 I think of it as my jointer. No.7 cost too much not that I can find one in Asia that's Bailey. No.4 also.
