I need more info on how to prep the surface. I already purchased stuff but I’m afraid I left something off. I just got the adhesive I think.

the pouncing is a total waste of a foil sheet when, in that case, you could dab a sponge in paint and do the same thing. I'd rather transfer it completely.

The pouncing method creates a completely different look, and you will never get the metallic shine of foils from paint. This method may not be for you, and this is why we share multiple ways to use our products :)
