I got accepted to my dream law school a couple days ago and i feel like it might finally be time to learn what types of lawyers there actually are lolll
I'm a family law lawyer. I can confirm there is some really interesting drama, haha. Also that movie, A Marriage Story - it was like watching a client's life on screen. The movie is spot on.
I’m fourteen and I am so caught between Criminal Law (I really want to be a public defender haha), Environmental Law, and Business Law. I’m trying to get a presidential scholarship to the school I want to get my undergrad at so I don’t have any student debt by the time I get to grad school, so I’m already working towards 4.0 GPA over my whole high school career and at least a 30 on my ACT, because I really, really want to do this.
That is amazing! Just be sure that when you do go into school for your undergrad, you maintain your GPA and study for LSATs to be able to get into a top 14 school. Do any major you want as you long as you maintain those!
hahah im also 14 and interested in criminal law however im not american so i dont understand all that gpa stuff 😭 im still deciding between criminal law or human rights law lol
I’m a sophomore in college and I’m thinking about changing my major to pre-law. I’m changing it from nursing:) I’m thinking about Civil Rights Law! Thank you for the insight❤️❤️
I’ve been told to major in something you can get really good grades in or if you change your mind some you can get a job in if you decide against law school
Probably would be more so where you work rather than type. A firm that is ok with remote work or your own law firm. If you are a litigator and have to go to court, it will be a bit less flexible but you still could probably manage it
I love criminal law. I’m a paralegal currently but I think I want to be a criminal defense attorney. You have a lot of time to make a decision but do some research into the criminal justice system and you might just become as interested as I am.
@@hannahyoung6458 Hannah are you aspiring to be a criminal defense lawyer? Do let me know what makes you interested in that type. Coz even I am thinking of walking into that😆😆
I’m still in high school and law has always interested me but I’ve never known what law I’ve wanted to practice. This video was really helpful and I’ll do more research thank you!!
Yo, I'm currently in high-school and wanted to be a lawyer for a while. I was unsure of what type of law I should look into but as soon as I heard "civil rights law", I immediantly knew. Thank you so much for this video! It actually made me realise which law I specifically want to consider doing, and now my thoughts my future path is getting clearer, even if a little ☺️
@@andreamontiel2032 yo bro that's completely normal :) Y'know personally for me I keep changing my mind so I am a bit worried I end up no longer wanting to be a lawyer but anyways, it's algs if u dont know what to do rn, everyone goes at their own pace. I wish u best in finding out what u want to do, remember to make sure that it's for u and smt u genuinely enjoy👌
This is actually quite helpful for me right now...just completed high school and got a bunch of careers mixed up in my head...i am sure i can see some potential in this area for me..
Immigration law interests me. Right now my dad is going through some legal troubles because of his visa and I don't want any foreign families to be torn apart because of paperwork.
omg, THANK YOU! This is actually such good information to relearn. We learned about these when we were young, but didn't know the exact implications behind each job and how they could protect you!
Im 12 and I’m thinking about being a lawyer due to the lifestyle but i didnt really know if their even was different types ! Thanks for the wonderful description of law .
Thank you sooo much for this video. I am a litigation paralegal with 15 years experience and plan on going to law school. Working on my Bachelor's degree. This really helped me narrow down the areas of law I would like to practice.
I'm in high school, law has always been an interest of mine. This video has detailed everything i want to know about different careers in law and the types. Corporate law my interest. I was inspired by this tv series "Suits" i feel in love with the characters Harvey Spector and Jessica Pearson portrait such a strong figure in corporate law and their bad ass attitude ✨. Thank you for the guidance and please keep them coming as you making it easy for us to understand our career path. Love from🇿🇦
I’m too old now to try to be a lawyer, but I loved this video. It was so informative. I also loved how you presented all of the information. It was quick and got right to the point. You didn’t waste our time 💕💕💕
Hi there, I kinda set that law was my preferred career when I was 4 years old. I wasn't sure what kind of law but I knew it would be law related. I chose corporate during my freshman year of highschool and have kept that in mind since, I will be apply to law school this fall. Thank you so much for the video! 💙
@@TheAspiringBoss RIP tha great. Would you encourage going to law school even if you don’t plan to litigate. Like I want to go just for the knowledge, I’m really interested in intellectual property law/fashion law/civil rights law ( even though I know it cost an arm and a leg lol )
@@ilovemybrudder do you have any idea of what you want your day to day to look like? There are so many different paths with a law degree so i wouldn’t let not wanting to litigate stop you. I’m not a litigator either
@@TheAspiringBoss honestly I’d like to start a non profit that is centered around holding panel discussions for Black entrepreneurs, nothing but straight facts about the law and how to use it in our favor. I worked for a non profit where we did things like giving info on resources & held support groups but our audience was at-risk youth/runaways (11-25 year olds). We’d come in the office twice a week for planning meetings & brainstorming and the other 3 days we were setting up the event(s) or putting on presentations about the company and our “mission”, mostly at high schools & college campuses in our targeted areas. Yea it was a lot lol
I’m a junior in hs who has always wanted to be a lawyer but I never knew what type I wanted to be , until recently I’ve now fell in love with civil justice and you helped me realize that civil rights law maybe the best for me💕!
Hey just an FYI, you can pursue both a J.D and an M.D with certain University/Law schools. Another way you could incorporate both is Medical Law. Hope this helps 💜
Thank you for this channel. My daughter is thinking about getting into law and I would love for her to follow that field. Recommended your channel and if you have any words of wisdom for a dad , fire away. :)
Awesome! If she is in high school or college, I would have her focus on getting good grades, standardized test prep and seeking information about different types of law so she can determine what path she might want to go down. My dad has been a huge part of my success just by always encouraging me and reassuring me I can do anything I put my mind to. :)
This video was helpful! I’m currently in undergrad working as a paralegal and I have always been interested in criminal law. I have been considering going to law school but I know I don’t want to make court appearances and I know if I want to work in criminal law, that will be nearly impossible so I have a lot of thinking to do. Thanks for making this video!
i'm an aspiring lawyer that has always been interested in law, but didn't know how I could combine my interests with the law. your video helped show me IP was for me! thanks for making it, and I love your channel!!
I started loving law after getting into Business course in Middle school and I also wanted to study law ever since I was 12 after realising I can't study medicine cause it's not my level. This is super helpful to guide me on the world of law 💖💖💖
I’ve always wanted to become a lawyer but didn’t pursue it because of the money. Now I keep having second thoughts. I always said if I did law it would be Immigration or divorce. Then after seeing IRL and in movies how horrible divorce is, I said no. No I think since I’m pursuing a Cyber Security degree, I may do immigration law of become a cybersecurity lawyer. This was very interesting and informative. Thank u.
I am about to be a Sophomore in High school and I want to study Law when I go into College but I don't know what kind to be! I like Medicine Law, Family Law and Business Law!
Do you have any recommendations on which type of law has the best work/family balance? I'm starting my first year of law school this upcoming fall but I don't want to go into a field of law that keeps me away from family and traveling. I'm considering real estate or environmental maybe? Which area of law is best to work remotely or is at least flexible? (I'm also not big into doing litigation.) Thank you for the super informative videos!
Im 12, im really interested on being a lawyer. I'll try all my best being a lawyer. I have no idea on what it is being a lawyer but I'll do my best studying.
this video was really helpful. I’m currently doing a foundational class to get into the university to study law. I’m also stuck in between Corporate law and civil rights law
Thanks so much for this awesome video!😊 I’m about to graduate university and I’ve decided that I’m going to pursue law and go to law school! I’m excited that there’s so many specialties to choose from!
My childhood dream was to be a prosecuting lawyer but my heart is just not in it anymore. After watching this video, Civil Rights or estate planning lawyer seems more like me so thank you :)
you a goat for making this video. i needed something to fall back on after football and baseball and i found being an environmental lawyer here. thank you
How hard is it? BTW keep going you're most likely almost where youre supposed to be!So many wish they could go to law school so be grateful and feel proud about where you're at!💕
Thank u so much for this!! I’m a junior in high school trying to decide what I want to do in the future, I knew law is something I’m considering and this helped clear things up so much:)
Thank you for breaking this down, I don't know why they don't teach you this in hs or college, I'm done college now and I assumed I would learn this in law school. Even the LSAT was mystifying to me. I've been confused and scared to take it for 10+ years. The anxiety is extreme. Wish me well, I wish you girl all the best
Thanks for your insight! I am over 50 and will begin law school Fall 2022. My background is Information Management/ Systems & Network Engineering. I would like to specialize in Cyber Digital Law working for the Silicone Valley companies. Please advise....
I'm still in Highschool but I've wanted to be a lawyer for 1-2 years now I want to be a human rights lawyer or a family lawyer but I thought I might prepare in advance so thank you for this video its really helpful!
Hello there, that's intriguing. I had heard about entertainment law but didn't know it was really practiced. Are you open to having a discussion on what you do please?
Thank you so much for posting. I am a physician assistant and thinking about returning to law school. Love the medical field, but looking to help in other aspects of the field such as healthcare law.
Good job, I want to study entertainment law. I've been doing contracts and showing others how to form their own businesses for years. It seems like entertainment law and business law go hand an hand.
Thank you so much for this video, you did a great job explaining all types of occupation in law. I am a 16 year old that is still confused about getting into law. Being a lawyer is such a broad term with different professions. I needed more info about getting into law school because I did not know what they really do and I did not know what I was getting myself into but now I know I want to do civil rights law, I want to change the world by gaining civil rights among minorities and just able to help people with human rights. I’m in grade 11, what do you think is the best major or bachelors to get on this field?
You don’t need a certain undergrad degree to go into law school. Study what you love and what you know you can excel in because law schools look at your lsat and gpa
Best video ever!! I really love it!! It really makes everything more clear for us in Law school. I took couple years to find out that I am a business corporate lawyer. I wish I could have watched this video years earlier!
your video was really helpful, now I know where to be more focused on...I think I'ma go for entertainment law and transactional law, just like you😊,and also real Estate...and maybe a little of criminal law
This video convinces me that I should have been a lawyer. Too late now (I am 48, and would have gone to law school 1995-98 back when it was still inexpensive relative to earnings prospects). Alas, a regret. There just wasn't so much info like this available so easily. I thought I had to be super-sharp-tongued and good at arguments to be a lawyer. Now I realize that I had the wrong information as there are so many types of law (particularly for engineering-type backgrounds like mine). So why am I watching this now? Well, mid-life is when regrets surface :(.
Thank you for this informative video. I have been reading law-related non-fiction stories so I guess, that's what makes me want to become a lawyer someday. I am watching these kind of videos to help me decide if I am really serious about pursuing law or if I am just fascinated with the type of stories that I read. It is not really good to suddenly change mind.
I would like to in entertainment and business law because I feel it's a passion of mine to be in and mom says I should go into law because I talk alot and I prove my point and my business teacher says I should be in law
I’d like to make sure people know that public defenders are also amazing advocates who will also “really fight” on behalf of their clients. Hiring a private defense attorney does not guarantee that you will have someone who will “really fight”. It’s a common misconception that public defenders don’t care but the best lawyers I know are or were PDs. Hope you can help those of us in the PD community help combat the stereotype. Injustice in the criminal legal system is deeply entrenched and systemic and public defenders fight every day on behalf of those with little to make the system a little less harmful. I hope you will help change the narrative. Thanks!
I do not wish to be a lawyer, but i do study law but it is mostly to understand the language of law, the reason is because law is really the language of the wealthy, examples would be real estate, finance and investing, banking, trusts, when a person realizes that law touches everything in life it changes their life from a poverty mindset to a prosperity mindset. Legalese should be required in the educational system of the public school system. I think it would cure a lot of poverty.. Enjoyed the vid...
This is like the 3rd video I’ve watched on law and I’m 13...I really wanna do law wanna i graduate and I am thinking about doing family but I’m still researching!
Really well explained’ love this video , I Iove law . I would like to become a lawyer but don’t know which one to chose What can I chose if I don’t have any goal
