Here is a compilation featuring 30 different kinds of railroad crossing bells that I've recorded ever since I've started railfanning 4 years ago. From different brands to different variations of these bells, this compilation will show every type of them that I managed to get recorded!
Before anyone asks, no, I have not filmed a true NEG E-Bell, at least yet. Despite these bells being very common in the US, they are hard to find in Canada. These bells are mostly only found on the two CSX lines in Canada at the moment (being the Sarnia Sub and the Montreal Sub). Safetran Type 2s are also rare in Canada, possibly even rarer than NEGs.
*For the Safetran Hybrid Bell, the company itself distinguished the bell as an electronic bell, due to there only being one moving part, compared to two on a standard mechanical bell. However, I placed it more into the "mechanical bell" category due to the way it rings and works.

Great compilation! Love that variety you've recorded! While you have seen some really cool E-bells, mechanical bells will always come out on top. Also, at 2:47, the "Prototype" GS bell model was apparently an in-production bell too. Maybe it's better to call it an early GS bell? I'd imagine you wrote it that way as a lot of people don't realize that.

Nice compilation. Some of my favourites are Western Cullen Hayes bells, though I will always like mechanical bells better than electric ones.

Great video! Safetran Type 2 aka NEG lol but not to many Safetran Type 2s on UP in region. All are post NEG possibly one being a Safetran Type 2. Cool you caught a Safetran Type 2 in action.

@CoastalOCRailfan 2 года назад
I'm pretty sure all NEGs installed before at least 2010-11 (when Safetran was bought out by Invesys Rail) are actual Safetran Type 2s. Metrolink used a few on their system along with Type 3s.

@@CoastalOCRailfan I know. I was saying aka NEG since he hasn't filmed an NEG E-Bell for this compilation. All NEG bells on UP in my region are post 2011 so they are all NEG except one at Highway 12 possibly.

My favorite is the Western Cullen Hayes (WCH) (Type 3) He sounds great! Liked from Thailand 🇹🇭. I used to be in the USA 🇺🇸 to hear the railroad crossing bells. I heard the General Signals (Type 1 and 3), Safetran (Type 3)(Low tone) there. The Associated Signal Company is my 2nd favorite. And where is the General Signals (Type 2)? Liked to see what’s in Canada 🇨🇦! That’s a lot to type.

GS Type 2s were used in Canada, USA, and Australia They were made from 2003 - 2016
