I'm probably gonna miss some things as usual but here's my take on it: Twilight is at the Castle of the Two Sisters trying to find that dark entity that killed RD. Not sure if Fluttershy came with her or if she just happened to be there. I'm leaning towards the latter since she seems to be spying her from outside and falls in love with Twilight. From there, she interrupts Twilight's attempts to find and fight this entity with her confessions of love, even fighting it along with her. Then it appears that Twilight found some source of power fueled by love, which Fluttershy ended up supplying power to before sacrificing herself. By this time, Twilight also appears to have feelings for her and, while saddened by the loss, using the power to wipe out the entity. Also caught that HTTYD reference there from Fluttershy. That was funny and cute to see.

Not all monsters are evil. Sometimes the scariest beings have the purest of hearts. From what i can interpret from this video, twilight is trying to find something called the purest heart to fight the darkness~ fluttershy/flutterbat who seems to have a crush on twilight is joining to help while trying to use this alone time to show how much she cares. Twilight doesnt realize it until she starts noticing the signs of her help and love. As an immortal being she can survive without her heart, so when they are trapped in the darkness with the purest heart, since it doesnt seem to be pure anymore, fluttershy decides the ultimate choice and gives twilight her heart just before she’s taken. The spell seems to try and find the purest of hearts and when it goes to fluttershy it just showed twilight that she didnt want it to end this way

So basically Twilight was searching for a powerful and ancient relic hidden in a ruin full of dark beings of shadow. And the relic is the only way to destroy them. Then finds out that the Flutterbat that's been following her the whole time actually IS the vessel for the relic, and it's all that's keeping her alive. And the second she gives it away the shadows take her.

Just a few ideas: So in a different kind of shyness, we see Fluttershy constantly reference her heart (which is a dark red) throughout the song as she becomes more and more manipulative and twisted until she fully turns into her bat self (as referenced by the rich pony who she kept attacking starting harmless eventually killing him). Is this darkened heart suppose to represent that her true kind, loving self was trapped allowing a monster to take over (similar to how the sirens possessed Twi in a different view of reality 2) or was she always bad and that she was the keeper of the only thing that could destroy the darkness and as she got more comfortable she became more wicked? Continuing thes idea, when she was going after Twi, was she originally going to eat her? If so, why didn't she? She hasn't really shown compassion for other before so why Twi? I have two ideas for this: (1) I like to think that a part of her true self was able to sense that Twi had the ability to break her free from her own darkness and sought her out. Her trying to get her attention through playful antics could be her only way to communicate if she has lost her voice and/or has been kept from society for a long enough time that she has forgotten how to interact with others. That could explain why when Twi asks her about the heart she at first in confused before gesturing to herself, saying that she's the key but Twi doesn't believe her either due to her reputation or because Twi believes that the artifact she needs is a relic like in the end. This could also explain why her feet begin to glow during the second and third verse as its the same color as her "purified" heart, suggesting that it's the true Fluttershy trying to get through. Once her heart is cured (going from the dark read we see in "a different kind of shy" to the same color she stomps during her dance) through Twi's and her love and gives it to Twi, she might be too weak as a soulless being be either live one or defend against the shadow creature, thus says goodbye to the only pony that heard her. (2) She is a minion of the darkness. She was sent to distract/kill Twi. Her first interaction with Twi is simply an act to get her to stop looking for the heart (which is why she doesn't glow during her dance-which I'll explain the significance in a minute) and is why she doesn't help Twi during the first few fights. Twi see's through her fake niceness and is enraged before tossing Fluttershy a side and continuing her search. As time goes on, Fluttershy becomes more enamored by Twi to a point that she begins to help Twi even. When interrogated about the heart she honestly doesn't understand, but when told it is related to love, she professes her love to Twi who ignores it an moves on. Fluttershy then begins to fight along side Twi to show that her feelings are genuine. Twi is stunned to see this and even begins to believe that Fluttershy isn't as evil as she believed. She even begin to reciprocate Fluttershys movements but still pushes her away either due to lingering distrust or because she still needs the artifact. Going back to Fluttershy's glow during the second verse, I don't think Fluttershy means to glow. Instead it's her love towards Twi that's causing light to form within her. As we get closer to the artifact, we see Fluttershy specifically being targeted by the darkness with a worried Twi staring on. This not only shows that Twi now trusts Fluttershy but is worried about her when the artifact is recovered but presses on. When they reach the artifact, there's no turning back as the darkness surrounds them. When Twi casts her spell and instead of breaking the dark sphere around the artifact, it instead goes into Fluttershy she is devastated because she thinks she's failed. Fluttershy on the other hand feels the spell working on purifying her heart and takes Twi for one more dance, knowing it will be her last. Twi, feeling like she has nothing left to lose decides that her last few moments will be filled with joy with a person she has grown to love. This is why Fluttershy glows during the dance but Twi doesn't, the spell is encouraging light/love to fill her and is leaking out. Once the spell has finished, she gives Twi her now purified heart. Twi, seeing that she has the artifact of love in her hands can only watch as her love is ripped away from her by the Darkness that she betrayed, either due to her lost soul meaning that she had to return or because the betrayal itself was enough for a punishment. With the cure in hand through her loved one's sacrifice, with a heavy heart she banishes the darkness forever, in hopes that Fluttershy can find peace

Everyone is talking about the HTTYD reference but nobody is talking about the Undertale reference at the end

Whenever I do my chores, i would listen to the one hour long version of this song. It's just so catching, i just feel like i can just dance while washing dishes.

Okay after watching this a couple of times,i found some interesting things 1. At 0:40 we see a rose in the castle of two sisters,which is weird because their isn't any plants glowing there,i think it's an reference to beauty and the beast ,think about it it quite similar, fluttershy is turned into a bat who has accepted herself that this is her true form, Twilight is mainly associated with Belle(because they both likes reading) and from the show we used to know that castle of two sisters was an old and rusty , which in that movie king castle was an abandoned place where only he lived (i also found another person comment telling about fluttershy heart) 2. In the last Chorus, everything turned black and white, feel like it an undertale reference (damn this video has so many references) that ending could say two things: Action have results and fluttershy can't come back to life or as we could reset in undertale Twilight will cast a time spell and will do something about it. 3.The lyrics "and tho are love is wrong" could say three (paranormal love, Pegasus and a unicorn,gay) Paranormal love: fluttershy is a batpony and Twilight is a normal unicorn it would make sense if it also that Different races: even tho flutter is a bat, we can't forget that she was originally a Pegasus,it can be that in this world, different races can't love each other or something Or they gay: for me this one makes a lot of sense Also i think that the main reason Killme2plaza is killing off mlp character because they wants to put an end to this series,i mean they wanted to make other things , but we audience always told them "we want more mlp" so Killme2plaza if you're reading this: You don't have to make mlp content if you didn't want to,youtube is a place where people can/should do what they feel like (unless if they hurting someone or themselves) if you don't WANT to make mlp content DON'T

OK, I think I understand most of it now.... Fluttershy is the one who, somehow, created or released the darkness. That's what the black ink and controlling the back squares in the previous video meant. That's why she was transformed into a monster. She reached out to the darkness, looking for strength so she wasn't cowardly anymore. She then had to move into an abandoned castle with her ally, the darkness. However, for some reason, even though she crushed her heart in the previous video, she now has a new more powerful heart, which is possibly the core of the Crystal Heart. Maybe the darkness stole the Crystal Heart off screen? Anyway, her new(?) heart causes her to connect with Twilight at once--maybe because the crystal heart is connected to Twilight? I wondered if the dancing was related to Sunshine Sunshine, but I think that's coincidence. Her connection may be because of the strong friendship of the Mane 6, I'm not sure Fluttershy ever met her world's twilight until then. Fluttershy originally had a sociopathic tendency, as evidenced by the ease with which she controlled and fed off ponies, and didn't worry about scaring or hurting animals. That's why she reached into the darkness, to enhance that aspect and become a true predator. But, now, she's realized living in darkness is worthless, and so she approaches Twilight to try and befriend and help her. She even turns on the darkness, with which she had been cohabiting the castle. Twilight tries to ignore then question her as to the location of the heart, but doesn't understand when Fluttershy gestures to herself. 2:50 ...OUCH, that's a painful scene. Twilight is confused when she tries to cast the spell on the heart, only to realize it IS in Fluttershy. Fluttershy smiles at the spell, but at 2:58 you can see a sad look as well. Fluttershy is ready to give up her heart, and die, both as penance and to get out of the darkness, helping Twilight. At 3:02 Twilight shakes her head in shock. She realizes this will kill Fluttershy. But Fluttershy has fully accepted it, and dances one more time. Twilight returns the hoof-bump this time, and, sadly hesitant, finally joins in for Fluttershy's last dance. When the lyrics say their love[friendship] is wrong... it's fitting, as "wrong," in this case just means, "not to be," since Fluttershy decided to sacrifice herself from the start. In fact, she's eager for it, to escape the darkness... so she kept gesturing to her heart again and again. After the dance, the spell and their friendship reactivates the crystal(?) heart. Fluttershy looks sad again (ouch), is happy to finally escape, her cutiemark now embedded on the heart. Twilight looks on in shock as Fluttershy's body is taken into the darkness, where it belongs... now that she's reneged on her deal, and no longer has the heart, she's no longer of use to the darkness. Before, it seems the darkness could do little against her, due to whatever deal was involved, since clearly it had a lot more power when it took out Celestia and Luna in Episode 1.

After watching this a dozen times, and seeing Twilight make the connection, and shake her head at the beginning of the third time that Fluttershy DDR dances, makes me sad since she understands the cost to Fluttershy. Maybe the cost to get it. Sadder if you consider that Twilight just kinda liked Fluttershy at the end, or largely played along just to get the heart. Even sadder if Twilight only developed love type feelings for Fluttershy, only after Fluttershy was eaten by the darkness. Edit: Removed a sentence that turned out to be false (after viewing the video again).

Ok my theory is that a long time ago fluttershy was cursed like the beast in beauty and the beast by either Celestia, a past ruler(the past ruler i will bring up again)or maybe the darkness because she is still the element of kindness and the darkness is trying to take the element so she was trapped in the castle and was turned into flutterbat but her heart was the only thing keeping the darkness away and when she gave the heart to twilight who was sent on a quest to find the element of kindness to help defeat the darkness but she just didn't know it was a living pony (who was probably there for a while so no one knew it was flutterbat which explainsthe past ruler bit) which is why when she found the orb with a heart on it and preformed a spell to see what if it was the element but it went to flutterbat.

Also loved the How To the Train Your Dragon 3 reference and the end scene just reminded me of Muffet's death in the Genocide Route of Undertale, when a spider placed a flower where she died, pretty dark and made me feel bad...

It's really inspiring to see such a good animation with many details plus good song. I love it!

So this is my take on the story! Inspired by others who told the story. Twilight was sent to the castle to try and defeat the dark hand things with a pure heart. Flutterbat, who happened to be in the castle, has a crush on twilight. So she tries to earn twilights trust. However, twilight is not keen on letting flutterbat pass. Since flutterbat didn’t want to be defeated, she fought along side twilight so she could finally earn twilights trust. Twilight was a little more convinced, but still said no. Flutterbat tried to tell twilight that she was the purest heart. But twilight did not believe that. Flutterbat still came along. They eventually found a heart that might do the trick. Flutterbat destroyed the heart and, as soon as she earned twilights trust, she gave her heart to twilight and disappeared into the darkness. Twilight was left alone to defeat those evil hands with a pure heart, truly devastated that she hadn’t given flutterbat respect in the beginning. But did win the fight.

I love this video so much! The whole series was great but this one is my favorite. I've been watching it over and over for the past hour. This is by far my favorite pony video I've ever seen and I just wanted to say thank you for making all of these. You're the best!
