This is awesome. I haven't heard this album since the 1980s. It is a brilliant album that I listened to constantly.

Underrated great songwriting team....

Had the pleasure of meeting Glenn Tilbrook when he performed a solo acoustic set in Maidstone Kent whilst he was enjoying a pre-show pint and He was so down to earth... the show was superb and we all got a laugh when he took requests but refused to perform 'American Pie' on the grounds he detests it.

Glenn Tilbrook is the epitome of androgeny. What a great song, performed by the greatest songwriting duo of the 20th century other than Lennon and McCartney. Thanks for sharing.

This album is a pop treasure. I don't understand why this album doesn't gain general recognition.

@starchaser77 I don't think they did. Here's the band backing them (from my vinyl LP): Andy Duncan on drums, Keith Wilkinson on bass, an d Guy Fletcher on keyboards.

I saw Squeeze perform about a week after you....in late August/early September 1985. Unfortunately the venue wasn't the best...but still a thrill to see them live!

I may have the title wrong but its the one with the chorus 'Bye Bye Miss American Pie - drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry' etc.

@starchaser77 It turns out he was in the band, in 1995-96. You're right. However Wikipedia has him as a drummer, so either they're wrong or the label sleeve of my album is.

This is a Squeeze single in all but name but name isn't it - and an album I really ought to dig out of the loft sometime. Did any of D & T's band go on to join the later incarnation of Squeeze?
