in todays episode, I discuss the recent storm Lillian and the destruction it's caused at the allotment site. From broken greenhouse panes to structures being blown down. I thought I survived the wind... but boy, was I wrong!
I discuss how to build a potting shed with all the accessories, a potting area, a snug with a log burner. encased in windows, overlooking the new pond. the potting shed will only be accessed via the bridge over the pond.
I also discuss remodelling the allotment plots and creating more metal raised beds on the new plot. I also give you a August plot tour, with a twist! I also show you other plotholders plots and their successful growing areas.
Cheryl, Jonny and Linda's plots are fantastic this year.
Linda has a channel called @Feelgoodgardens
Give her a follow!
Cheryl also has an instagram: cherylgardens
While back at my plot I harvest more blauhilde beans and discuss the disasters on the plot this year. I also discuss which bed was more successful. The Dig or the No Dig bed. Is No dig worth it?
I also discuss the polytunnel and how the tomatoes didn't do as well this year. you win some, you lose some!
It's now time to start closing down the allotment for autumn. Removing obsolete plants that are swamping the winter vegetables is necessary now. Removing nasturtiums that are taking nutrients from the winter veg such as the leeks is needed right now. Composting the green matter will ensure nitrogen is added to the compost heaps, creating rich compost for next years plants.
