Hang with the dudes from RTC as we head to the city to dig a few piers for our good friends at Indo in St. Louis. The architect called for 5ft deep which is just crazy and even the inspector agreed, but we hit the 5ft mark on each one.
5 foot deep with a 3/8 rebar cage. I can't wrap my head around the thought process of why the engineer thinks that is necessary for an aluminum structure
I have a question. When you installed the rebar cages it looks like they will be in contact with the dirt even after you pour the concrete. Won't that allow the rebar to rust and cause the concrete to start spalling over the years? Not being critical, just genuinely curious, as I have built these type structures and we always suspend the rebar cages in the center of the hole.
