Thanks for this! What should I do if I want to present the number as even more customization such as 100 million? e.g. my sales are 900,000,000 and it should give me 9, instead of 900M or 0.9B
I’m using this feature to get around having separate measures for average times in decimal for charts and text for tables but does this carry over to report builder?
Q can this be used to format lines in a chart if you want set colours for specific items I.e product A is always blue product b is always red? Great video btw
Unrelated but maybe you can help? I have a calc group that contains an item that I need to change the font color of. How do you do that? So, the calc item looks at the selected measure, i.e. sales, calculates the value for the current year and the previous year, and returns the year over year change. I want it to be red if negative. Seems simple. But it is not the selected measure that I want to format, it is the calculation item result that I want to format. Is this possible?
I'm trying to use dynamic format strings to get m:ss formatting (yeah I know it is n:ss because m is for months). Doesn't seem to work. I can use Format in the measure but that doesn't sort well 15:25 is before 1:55 because the output is a string. I could use formatting in the Format pane for the visual - but I have to do that every time. Surely just "n:ss" should work as a (not very dynamic) dynamic format? Any ideas why it doesn't? it works with numbers.
It would be great if everyone could vote this idea up to improve the performance of the dynamic DAX formatting. I believe this idea might be able to significantly help this feature in many use cases. The idea title is: "Optimize dynamic format strings for DAX measures"
Does anyone have issue with displaying dynamic format strings on chart axes (e.g. Y-axis)? I noticed that the Y axis was disabled for this demo and I had issues displaying dynamic format strings correctly on chart axes. Any thoughts welcome.
@@datazoepowerbiI wonder how the locale table looks like. What format did you use so Brazil can have period as thousands separator and comma as decimal?
