I have done somew crazy recoveries in my day but you'all have me beat by a mile... what a recovery effort! stay the course you almost have it.

In 1975, I needed a van to haul a bunch of material to a little shop I was building in Rockford, Michigan. In the local newspaper I found a 1962(?) Deluxe VW microbus for $200. Can't recall if it was a 21 or 23-window, but it was a sunroof model. The floor and the sunroof were both replaced with plywood, but despite the leaks and neglect it had suffered, it started and ran -- even in the middle of Winter. I sold it for $300 when I'd finished the project. I don't wish I'd kept it, but whenever I see one out here in California, it takes me back to 1975. Looks like you're in the home stretch to get this one on the trailer and on its way home. It's worth all the effort you and Josh have put forth. I'll keep watching.

I picked a two seater outhouse from an old school in northern Vermont and moved it on an unregistered trailer on a Sunday, hoping the State Police would have been watching football. Getting this stuff on and off rustic trailers is an exercise that most folks never experience. Good for you and Josh.

I have one of those light weight jacks that after 10 years of use destroyed the universal joint at the bottom end of the jack handle , i put in a new pin and i am still using it. Of course i have a place to put a jack stand and you only have a place to put another log so it won’t fall on you!

I am glad you didn't need the helicopter, it was only a last resort suggestion when you were there on your own Jason. You and Josh have made great progress with all the jacks and blocks. I have a suggestion; take some logs, split them down the middle and lay them in the grooves you have made with the truck you then have a 'flat road' to drive on carefully. I am looking forward to the next episode Jason and Josh. 👍👍

Y'know, I just had a thought- With all that water there, what if you mixed cement into the water while the bus is elevated out of it and then let it cure, you'd have a good foundation to jack from after that! Maybe write something in it for the spirits and they'll play nicer... XD

That son of yours is such a good kid, a safety officer, guide, laborer and runner, you both deserve credit for raising a very responsible young man BRAVO!! What you really need is a speed jack, I bought mine at HB a couple years ago for my shop. What a blessing it has been with my destroyed back. I can lift my truck up in 3 pumps it's that quick,It breaks my back to see you or anyone pumping and pumping to lift an inch or two, One pump is all it should take. Big credit on you for having the tenacity and wherewithal to dig and dig to get these old classics out of the earth. Can't wait ti finally see them out and you can tell the evil spirits to go back in their hellhole..

Good to see you are making progress! Couple of remarks; next time bring a good quality shovle, get some plywood sheets the size of your jacks, so they wont sink in the mud and wont dig into the VW, put some real offroad tires on your truck, you are waisting time getting stuck for the 7th time! (The best helmsmen are on shore) Otherwise; liked the videos on these 2 VW buses!

I enjoyed the comment about the body tag… Lower 3rd of the car is totally rusted, frame is gone, and the torsion tubes are barely hanging on, but we have a body tag! 😂 Is there a tree growing out of the roof!?

Nearly there !. It’s out of the ground it’s sat in for nearly 60 years. It must have sat there five times longer than it was actually on the road if the last date was 1965.

What`s the plan with these buses ? Fixer uppers or parts ? Lot of work fixing up !
