As much as it sucks that you fell, I'm glad you didn't fall on the shovel. For the future, maybe fill a garbage can with a mix of salt and sand and leave it outside the doors in the winter for those odd times you get that happening. Saved me many a time up here in Canada

I'm from New England we just got 2 feet of snow last Saturday. So I'm laughing at him struggle with like an inch of snow. Then he took that spill and I felt horrible. I'm glad your ok bud.

As someone that lives in the Dallas area, the snow wasn't the problem. We had minimal snow, with a 3" layer of ice on most everything else. The ice was the problem.

Saw your bird bath. Up here in WI we have a winter bird bath! It is heated just enough to keep the water open, even in multiple degrees below zero! Although under those conditions it ends up with a collar of frost around the rim from evaporating water. The water temp stays just warm enough to keep it from freezing.
