Love your humour Sean - I thought of using the newspaper as a collage in the Cottage BUT your time capsule is a better idea - I was just 3 months old at that particular time. Garden looks healthy and beautiful - and those kittens like you say aren't kittens anymore BUT you can see they all love you - maybe you'll have to make them a confined tree house (with windows) now they're eager to climb. Sean, marigolds are good companions for lots of vegetables as predators don’t like the smell. Plus, you can dead head them and have tons of seeds forever. Love your natural gardening.

When I bought my 125 year old house as is, all the furnishings, etc were included. The previous owner had been an airman on an American bomber in WW II. There was a stack of aerial photos taken after bombing raids to assess the damage. Also the map printed on silk that the airmen carried in case their plane went down in Europe. Silk so they didn’t give away their location by the rustling of a paper map when shot down.

@@hmeyers5114 It was incredible. I donated the photos & silk map to a museum in the city. I honestly couldn’t believe what I found just going thru piles of “junk” left in the house. I also found sterling silver opera glasses. I still have those because they are absolutely beautiful.

I love the idea of using the hay rack as a balastrade. Your gardens are looking lovely. We are picking beans, cucumbers, peppers, yellow squash and beans out of the garden already her in Pennsylvania USA. Amazing strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are ready also. Love the summer harvest from my back yard.

I have built Catios for my fur babies since 1992, but I always built them against a window of my house (usually the kitchen). That way I could let them in and out easily, no matter what the weather. They were also easily expandable and I would move the climbing options occasionally, since cats do tend to get bored with the same thing all the time.

Love your channel. Quick note from personal experience re: the Fuchsias in the center of your beds: if not staked, they can flop all over the rest of your plants. If trained up, the plants can become standards, but it’s not their natural habit. (Mine regularly swamps the ferns around it and has to be trimmed back because we didn’t make it into a standard.)

At 3.00, I’ve always remembered chuckling at an episode of Steptoe and son (1972). They were ripping up some old Lino in a house when Wilfred Bramble suddenly falls back on his bum, with a shocked look on his face saying oh my God, no. His son looks at him quite concerned and asks what’s the matter. Steptoe picks up a sheet of newspaper from under the Lino and says ‘Gandhi’s dead’.

I wish there was a way to remove the stone steps from the foyer. Instead, step up into the kitchen, then step up onto new wooden steps to the upper level.

The stone steps are strategically place to help secure the foundation stone behind it which in turn supports the oak post that holds the floor joists

You replenished your stone stock maybe use them in the barn next door ;) glad you are nearly there. Keep the newspaper you can and put them up as prints in the cottage. Never heard of someone putting lathe back in and in your case why not well done Sean :) It will be interesting to see how you fix the wall. It would have been lovely to have a window in your kitchen on that side even for ventilation. Great progress and beautiful garden you have I am envious as I cannot do it anymore too hard with my health issues I miss it only keep plants indoors. I thought you were putting herbs near your patio area. They do get bigger those cats makes me wonder how you will manage when you move into the cottage later even temporarily it will get very cozy ;) Don't change anything you are doing in the style of videos you do and editing is first rate wonderful :)

I live in the USA and the buildings are not as old as in France but I have worked on many buildings with horse hair plaster. I am trying to grow a garden in clay that hasn't been turned in 50 years. I am trying to ammend it with equal parts of top soil and potting mix.

You also need manure and compost. They will give you natural chemicals to help thi gs grow.

My brother had beef cattle so I have a very large pile. So I have fertalizer. Just need to make it lite and fluffy.
