Dither is not all that crazy. For some reason, when I tried to ask about dither people made it out to be magic cause they probably didn't know. Haha.

How does noise effect the dynamic range? because I have an understanding of it in my head but I feel I am wrong. Are you saying that when the noise is correlated causing distortion, because the noise floor increases in certain areas that this actually decreases the difference between the noise floor and the highest amplitude value meaning that the dynamic range is decreased?

Yes, we want uncorrelated noise. If the noise is properly dithered it won’t be a problem

Thanks man. So is dithering something we do to prevent the amount of low signal distortion that happens when we add signals together? if yes that's fine I understand, but if no then my question is when does dithering become relevant?
