バラタナティヤムは南インドのタミル・ナドゥを発祥地とする古典舞踊です。古代より南インドの寺院や宮廷において栄えました。ムードラと呼ばれる精密な手の動きやアラマンディという独特の姿勢で行われるフットワークを特徴とします。
As part of the celebrations for India @ 75 and India-Japan @ 70, we invite you to watch Episode 29 of the Digital Dance Series presented by the Embassy of India, Tokyo. This video features a performance by Ms Kaname Tomiyasu, the youngest professional Bharatanatyam artist in Japan.
[About Bharatanatyam]
Bharatanatyam is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. It has flourished in the temples and courts of southern India since ancient times. It is known for detailed hand movements depicted through sign language (Mudras) and disciplined footwork characterised by a half squat posture (Aramandi).
