Had to delete all my socials in my phone to focus on writing my final uni project. It's terrifying to notice all the times you unconsciously try to reach out for your phone in a day, but overall I feel more calm, focused and happy - yay! 👏 Love your videos!
I unfriend so many people from my social media. And I only post creative stuff on my social media that only 3% of the people on earth will tend to say anything. I don't like arguments because it's counter productive
went on months detox and it felt surreal, days felt a whole lot longer. nowadays i use it to push any creative project, being mindful about the time spent can be just as hard but looking at it as a tool makes a big difference.
Hardest thing for me to detox from is RU-vid. I learn so much from it but I can also look back on long days of watching YT and I’m not actually sure what all I watched. Great video Robert!
Just a quick recommendation that has worked for me is that turned off history in the settings part of RU-vid. That has helped me to not keep scrolling and seeing stuff that interests me. When you do that in the home tab instead of seeing all the videos that the algorithm recommends you, you will see nothing and just now I realized that even the shorts tab does not recommend anything all you see is a black screen. It won’t show you any shorts due to you turning of the history option. The only video that I see are the ones that RU-vidrs upload that I’m subscribed too like Robert creating. Hope that helps.
This is pure genius. I had the pleasure of reading something similar, and it was sheer brilliance. "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide" by Matthew Cove
I was expecting some bs to spill from this video but still was curious what will be here I was so wrong and I like it, this video really what is 1st step for digital minimalism. This video really was pretty useful and good, wish ya luck for the future
Sorry buddy, I use the Samsung t7 and t5 (t7 is faster) www.amazon.com/Samsung-T7-Portable-SSD-MU-PC1T0T/dp/B087DFLF9S/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=Samsung+t7&qid=1702829777&sr=8-5
Hey buddy, they are all from Pinterest. You can set them up with the app shortcuts and images, the process is pretty simple, I explain it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XuUUzrDp7YE.htmlsi=oG9-TcYUZIVKnazn
Hey there, that's a great question, the idea is to do a 30 to 60 days detox to see how I feel, and maybe I'll get back to IG but I am not sure yet. Are you on social media?
@@RobertCreatingyes, actually I follow you on IG, and I realized your account was disabled until I got on this video and saw you are on social media detox, I am planning to do the same, I’ve tried to do this in the past but always fail within the first 2 weeks 😅
for me what helps most is just have a device per type of task Tablet for Email, Calendar, Etc (sits next to my bed and bring it with me to meetings so I can access my email and calendar if needed) Home PC for Entertainment (basically just use it like a TV Box + Console in the living room) Laptop for Productive (kept in my backpack for when I need) Phone for Communication (lays on a wireless charger near the entrance for when I go out, exists exclusively for being reachable and because phone number is borderline legally required) What I did ^^ I love how I survive with 256gb on laptop/PC, and 128gb on phone/tablet
this is so great because I have tried social media detox for almost a year and it feels amazing because i just did not miss out on anything, and most of the important people in my life are great and they dont really mind me not having socials and they respect that and i still get to communicate with them, and that social media are just for entertainment purposes especially those from people whom you didnt know, its not bad to have socials what's bad if it takes too much of your time that you forget to really live in the moment and just succumb yourself to these algorithm and you just feel to justify like its the norm because its nothing compared to how you really you live your life even if it gets boring or not interesting at all.
What I always do is to hide the social media apps that I had on my phone and then set a password to make it hard to access them. This creates friction for me in accessing them. However, I can't fully hide RU-vid because I get my ideas from videos I watched here.
Honestly, you are the greatest creator I have seen in a while. I generally get excited when I see your content. Keep up your amazing work. Your style is inspiring!
I'm more addicted to look at my screen of devices if they are in dark grey gradient colours and when the screen is tidy and clean because I love that aesthetic. I hate to look at the screen when it is cluttered and have so many colours. So I guess the cleaner the screen is the more I am tempted to see. Just to see, not to open anything. Haha
Rob, give us an update on the social detox. I’m currently going through one myself. I’m aiming for 1 month or till the beginning of the year. When I return I’ll add the apps on my iPad rather than my phone.
HEy dude, first days were rough, not gonna lie, FOMO 100%. But I am starting to feel calmer and more centered if that makes sense. How about yourself, how is it going for you?
I really enjoy your videos:) How can I change my phone to black and white, while even Apple’s applications is green or something? Do you use an app for it?
hi there, I've made videos about how to do it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XuUUzrDp7YE.html Some apps I use happen to be black and white though
In the thumbnail I read „Building a Second Brain“ I thought you would say something to this method from Tiago Forte. Nevertheless thank you for the great video.
hey, robert - great video. would love for you to elaborate on your "deleting Instagram" experience. i am planning a social media detox in 2024 and have already started implementing it. would love to get your tips on that. you also mentioned that you have deleted your Instagram - does that mean that your detox is a permanent one?
Hey there!! Glad you liked it. Well, 2 weeks ago I just woke up overwhelmed and deactivated my account. There is an option to deactivate instead of delete. So technically you 'delete' your account temporarily but can get back to it whenever you want. As for tips, I am not sure what you mean, I just went cold turkey. I will make a video of my experience with no social media next year stay tuned for that!
Another great video. I have about 10k emails I need to go through because when I sign up for a site I go through it so quickly and auto check the darn newsletter or other dumb auto matic emails. I need to unsubscribe and clean it up. I try to make a dent in it all the time but I need to spend a couple hours and just clean it out. I have been also slowly selling off old clothes and downsizing my wardrobe. I don’t know if I will ever be a minimalist pro like you Robert but I am enjoying your videos and slowly simplifying my life , keep it up. Side note : Watching this on my break with my new moft creator kit wallet stand, bought it from your recommendation and I am huge fan of it !
Great video! After a few weeks watching your channel and bring your tips to my day, my life is slowly getting better and the feeling of be on the right way is amazing! Thank you, Robert! Hugs from 🇧🇷!
Hola, Robert.
