You're demonstration was very helpful. I did try it with the thicker foam sold at Michael's, but it didn't tear well untill I did a second cut stitch with a denim needle. Even at that, it wasn't that easy to tear. I hope to invest in some foam mean for embroidery or at least stay with the thinner craft foam.

I did it with some 6mm foam from amazon and it worked ok, but I have a pretty high tolerance for it being hard to tear out.

Brad, would it not have been easier to stitch by flipping the letters upside down and than hooping the shirt from the bottom. No worry about the sleeves getting in the way. Just my thought.

with that hoop I need the sleeves to connect the ends of the hoop to the machine
