Neither you nor I possess inalienable dignity. In fact, even the ontological dignity we have is a grace that Jesus afforded us which we can lose any second by breaking our baptismal promises. The only humans with infinite Dignity are Jesus (by virtue of His Divinity) and Mary (by virtue of Her Motherhood of God.) Fernandez's new document is an affront to perennial Catholic teaching. Besides, no three-letter secular body such as the UN has authority over the Magistrium of the Church.

Humans do not have infinite dignity. Only God has infinite dignity. Infinity is God's prerogative not ours.

That is false. The Declaration speaks of “ontological” dignity being infinite precisely because such dignity proceeds from the love of the Creator. Being in the image and likeness of God, we all possess this dignity. I would encourage you to read the Declaration which distinguishes this from moral dignity which can increase.

The Nigerian cardinal would be better. Besides, Bishop Barron's an American Catholic, and American Catholics have a lot of work to do before even one can be considered worthy of being Christ's vicar. Need I remind you that American Catholics are altogether fundamentally interchangeable with American Protestants? Let's also not forget that he thinks far too highly of Jordan Peterson. Jon Ronson noticed that Peterson seemed to become a caricature of himself post-COVID. Then there's the fact that he was fooled by Michael Knowles. You are free to think what you want, but Knowles hasn't been transparent about who he is. He says he used to be a big lib when he was younger, but he neglected to mention that he played a twink in the student film House of Shades (2012). In other words, he's a failed _actor._ He's been silent on Steve Bannon's campaign to split Roman Catholicism in two as well as the fact that Bannon was instrumental in the madness that was January 6th, 2021. He lied about Ashli Babbit being killed by a trigger-happy cop. The reality is that Babbit climbed through a broken window and the cop shot her in reaction to an _invader._ Knowles kisses the ring of Trump all the time in spite of acting so moral, righteous, and like he's such a devout Catholic. Trump has never once asked God for forgiveness. He told that to Jake Tapper and a room full of Protestants. You can find both clips easily on RU-vid. Need I remind you that Trump's record on marriage is that he goes out of his way to destroy his marriages? Don't be surprised if it turns out that he's been cheating on Melania with his VP pick.

That why the BVM has the highest dignity of creatures in heaven. There is no equality in heaven, but all are infinitely loved by God.

No human beings have infinitely dignity for our dignity comes from Christ the very image of God. Through his incarnation he joined himself with humanity through which we are now infinitly dignified, Catholicism is true humanism. Not when we are in heaven but even now while we are sinners.

Our dignity is found on being conformed to Jesus Christ. He (a Divine Person) and His Mother Mary by virtue of Her Motherhood of Jesus (a Divine Person Incarnate) are the only two humans beings who possess inalienable (infinite) dignity. Thomas Aquinas teaches that we lose the dignity we have redeemed by Christ when we sin, so our dignity is not inalienable but the opposite. Crd. Fernandez is one of those weirdos in Rome selling poison pills clothed in catholic jargon to advance global interests that have little to do with the salvation of souls and the message of the Gospel...

Christ Jesus is the One Who first focuses fiercely on the "primary commandments" (love God and neighbor) out of 613 mostly ceremonial laws of Moses. I wrestle with this too. The person God intended us to be will always bring more joy and peace than the one we try to invent for ourselves.. people are suffering and they cannot even tell how or why these days... we can just pray for the love of God to touch their souls

The Blessed Mother is the only other human being who may have infinite human dignity. The rest of us are created in God's image, giving us dignity; but that dignity is not infinite as we are far from perfected. We are called to cooperate in God's infinite mercy to aid in our redemption. The statement that human dignity is infinite is hubristic and can lead to very bad unintended consequences for many people that could separate them from grace. Pray for the Church.

@David-lb3tp +JMJ. Other than in Christ the Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary, no quality of man is "infinite". That was heresy propounded by Friedrich Schliermacher a Reformed Protestant theologian (died 1834). He stated that all religion boils down to the subjective inner sense of the infinite. The Catholic faith by contrast holds that divine revelation is not a matter of subjective rationalism. Rather it is reflected in Sacred Scripture, Tradition and the Sacraments handed down from the Lord and the Apostles. It never was someone's intuition of infinite dignity. Even after Baptism man is plagued by the ongoing effects of original sin. It's called concupiscence. It plagues fallen man. Man is dust without being perfected in grace by Christ in God. Hence the statement is hubristic in kindness, but heretical and leading souls away from God at worst. May God bless you.

Now it looks like you're also going to have to learn the difference between "infinite" and "perfect," because, though Mary is perfect, the only infinite quality she possessed before her assumption was her dignity, as being made in God's image.
