DIIV perform "Dust" at CT5 

This is literally THE best version of this song. The absolute chaotic passion in this knowing Cole was still hurting and using dope at the time, and it's even haunting almost thinking he was arrested 2 days after this was posted looking back now.

"A lot of the songs on the record do date back that far. The songs were written over a long period of time, and they’re kind of all over the place. But “Dust” is kind of an important part of the record for me because it’s kind of an outlier - you know, a lot of people were disappointed that I recorded it differently than I do live, that it’s more kind of mellow, and I’m not screaming like I do live. But for me, it’s always been important to have the live band be one thing, and the recorded band be kind of another thing. So to make the live version and the studio version of “Dust” the same wouldn’t allow there to be something that surprises people live." ZCS

In my opinion both the album and this live version offer an interesting and rather obessessing version of the same song. This is energetic, raw and Zach clearly lashes out at the "Fucked to die" part, you can even see the guitarist looking at him impressed. But the album version actually offers a more droning, almost clostrophobic version of the song that I think works very well. This is very post-punk while the album one is much a more ethereal and drug-infused performance

I love this song because it really encompasses that dreamy/surfy sound that we all love DIIV for but with a little more umph, I can't wait for the new record

This song makes me want to mosh pit and stage dive at their next show

This version is even much better than that on the album where this track in my opinion is not produced good enough.There the distorted guitar is too loud i think. But i also think the album is brillant, very intense and melancholic. I love healthy moon which has sth of Deerhunters' Desire Lines.Touches me very deep

I never listened to this song both with headphones and all the way through; consequently I wasn't thinking much of this. But now I have - it's AMAZING, I really hope this is their main sound on the new album cause it should be even better than Oshin.

Listen it with headphones. Remove the one where you hear the keyboard. Maybe you'll appreciate it more because, like someone else already said, the arrangement doesn't sound set in stone. It sounds hassled. I mean that in the nicest way because as a musician I know being in that situation can be tense. But yeah, the song is superb.
