The best part is that everyone thinks that dropping to B or A can only make it a heavy breakdown, but it's in standard tuning! This band is so goddamn intense.
Listening to this song live 17 years ago in a packed, Chicago bowling alley while it was over 100 degrees inside with people passing out left and right was the greatest musical experience of my life.
Miss Machine was the first thing I heard by them and come sunshine the werewolf I knew I already dug the hell out of it. Calculating Infinity I will say took a bit longer to get into I’ve only recently really been starting to get it.
@@arekhautaluoma4276 And same singer for a little while :) I love every singer they've had though. But Irony Is A Dead Scene has it's own sound. Really every album they do has it's own sound. Ben Weinman & Chris Penne are what really makes it Dillinger.
I know this was the first Dillinger song I ever heard and loved and I'll know every damn word for the rest of time. Especially after seeing them live. Even from the early stuff I LOVED IT ALL, "I want your Soul" is terrifying. Mike Patton is a genius, but so is everyone else. Greg intense af breaking ppls faces with microphones (true stories) and overwhelming talent from the drummer and guitar players... top 10 band, really. Will always miss these fuckers shows \m/
casually stroll out from the children's reading corner and fasten your jeans like "hey!? seriously?? some people are trying to have a decent Thursday!"
just write guitar riffs in 9/8 time to represent gravity's rate of 9.8m/s/s and in 19/16 which is the year Einstein published his theory of relativity.
These songs are more wellthought than the most of other metalsongs that makes this music very well. The most shocking about these dudes is that they can perform the most technical shit with still moving around like a freak.
it's pushing boundaries. showing people that their is music other than 4/4 rock, something that western pop culture is not ready for. that is definately art. I dont think any band has put this much energy into every song, and every show, they are one of the only true artistic bands remaining today.
Greg has one of the most versicle voices in the hardcore/metal/whatever scene right now. I mean listen to his side project Spylacopa, listen to Horse Hunter on Ire Works, then listen to songs like Sunshine the Werewolf or Lurch. He's incredible.
If you listen to this and you're take away is that people don't like this because they don't understand the timing, then I can't help but chuckle. I love Dillinger but they make easily some of the most abrasive and least welcoming music around. Some of even my most knowledgeable music friends can't stand them. They're a MASSIVELY acquired taste.
@kamikaz1k There are some songs I need to listen to about 5 or 10 times before I "get" them. 43% Burnt was one of them. But right now, after so many listens, its actually one of my favourite tracks. Some songs are more accessible than others which is a great thing about DeP because they can write so flexibly and still make it sound "Dillinger".
Oh, geez! These guys are totally awesome! Flawless performance, still they rock around like bouncing balls... Mighty impressive! Sounded almost exactly as on the CD, too.
I wish I coulda been there for this. these guys are one of my favorites cause they covered "Come to Daddy" by Aphex Twin and that takes some serious talent.
@@albertfish69 Yeah, I was HYPED for that cover. Then the EP dropped, and it's... rubbish. Really thin-sounding, a disappointment. Rest of the EP fucking KILLS though.
True, when I first heard it I was like: this is too much to process right now haha. Then later I listened to them fully focussed and I heard the deep complexity of their beautiful music.
They DO have their music broken down, planned out, and comprised of complicated riffs. It's completely planned out, they don't really make up anything on the spot. That's why it's so amazing. They can stop on a dime, and play flawlessly in 17/8 without missing a note in a 16th note run.
I totally got kicked out of that show for not being able to resist the last breakdown. At the end of the video you can see the end of the security escort taking those of us who couldn't resist throwing fists and kicks being taken out of there. lol
Mike Patton actually did vocals on an albumn for dillinger after thier first singer left before they picked up Greg. They called it "irony is a dead scene" check it out
Holy crap they look really young here. I remember seeing them around this time in Detroit after Chris/Brian left the band and they had Gil and Tuttle join. The show was fucking crazy, I remember it was like -20 degrees out in the winter and being bundled up in line to get in... I left the show missing multiple pieces of clothing lol.
I cant imagine non-fans of mathcore would get a kick out of this in the middle of a shopping centre... I can just imagine how much they'd hate this. However.. this is art, this is amazing metal, and its some of the best shit out there.. havent been able to wrap my ears around it recently because of my damn headache though.
I agree, I was just saying to people who haven't heard them on the album to listen to that if you want the full effect. There is so much more going on that you cant really make out watching it on video. This Song Is EPIC!
That's quite disrespectful! I discussed training with him ones, and he's way to serious about it to take steroids. He just have a good workout routine and eats well.
If you watch the first video of this concert and then this one, you can see that the band is fucking tired and destroyed... but still having a tide and on fire performance
