Used to go there with my buddies in the mid 60'. Then there wasn't a lot there then. We rode skim boards for days and slept on the beach in sleeping bags. Got to be good friends with Karen Lawson. Don't know if she's still or not. Her dad was really cool and let us hang out. The store sure is different but the cabin's are still there. There wasn't much in the camping area. Have a lot of good memories of that place.
My family has a cabin on Ocean View in the village and we used to spend our summers hiking all over Dillon beach area, Lawson's has changed a lot they had a pier with a fuel dock for boats and mornings you could keep your boat, there was also a big party boat , the Tracer run by Merle Lawson , we used to go on it for halibut ling cod and rock cod and salmon, they used to go all the way out to Cordell banks to fish , it only cost 20 dollars and they gave you a pole and bait , it was nice , there was a nice trailer park set up at the landing and that's all been removed now It's sad there was so much more to do back when we were kids , I'm sure it's still a nice place , I noticed on your drone shots there's a pier , did they rebuild the pier because I heard it was taken down Nice video thanks
That’s the deal now in California they shut everything down on you and charge triple the price for everything! Terrible job on the policies and money management. And the money just somehow disappears smh!
I grew up clamming out there, crabbing and hiking over the point to get abalone. All in the 70s and 80s. We camped in old canvas tents in the dunes. My dad even did a little hang gliding off the big dune.
Last time I was there, around 2014, I was told that a kid knocked over the clam tank and shattered it. I grew up going to Lawson's too. One of my favorite things as a kid was to watch the hang gliders come down off the hill. It's a shame what the environmentalist wackos have done to the place.
