Ordered the 750 yesterday and I have never done reloading before. Kind of nervous about doing it right, but I have the money to jump in at least with decent equipment as a starting point. Your video does a great job presenting this press. I believe I will get that Double Alpha mini case feeder as well. Thanks! Awesome workbench!

Good setup! I like the reloading bench channels and the quick swap system you have set up. It makes me wish I had a Dillon when I was reloading 25 years ago. I had a single stage.

Just got an XL750. Was debating the case feeder, but I think I would like the quiet one you use.

I am a year into this setup and still have no desire for the auto case feeder. ESPECIALLY now that I have a collator to load the mini case feeders. (I have a video on that too!) My flow of 100 works for me and I don't want to change it. Thanks for watching.

My XL 750 just got delivered to me.I bought the inline fab micro mount to mount the press to my bench.I also got the bullet tray option.Will try to set it all up this weekend.Just curious as to how you mounted the bullet tray.There is no video on the net using the inline fab micro mount.
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
In order to use the Dillon bullet tray and an Inline mount you will need this bracket: inlinefabrication.com/products/factory-dillon-bullet-dish-support-bracket-for-650-and-benchtop-mounting The bracket supports the tray and the other end goes to the front left corner of the press and is secured with a bolt that goes through the bracket, press and then the mount. Let me know if you would like me to video my set up...

thanks for sharing, is there am aftermarket funnel like for the lee loadmaster case tubes where you shake it and the cases fall in the tubes speeds it up, or a 3d printed version, I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
As a matter of fact there is a 3D one. I had this one printed: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3496028 It works extremely well and much faster than hand loading the tubes!! I haven't timed filling up the feeder, but its quick enough for me. On average I will get one case upside down every 500 or so. I recently did a 1000 round session filling the feeders with 100 rounds for each set and didn't get one case upside down. I did find that if you put to many cases in the bowl it takes a bit more agitation and a little longer for the cases to fall. I usually drop about 20-30 at first then trickle them in. I reached out to Double Alpha about a collator and they said they were not considering a collator like the Lee as there would be 'some' upside down cases. I can accept the occasional upside down case... The upside down case will not slide into the shell plate and it just takes a second or two to either flip/reinsert (you would have to contort your fingers a bit) or just remove the case keep on reloading and cycle an empty station around. Let me know if you want to see a video of the collator. Thanks for watching.

@@snapjamwoodworks710 thanks just looking to make my first purchase, thinking of an xl750, yes please post a video, would love to see it in action. i have a 3d printer have not used it in about 2 years large 12 x 12 foot print, would do it as soon as I make the purchase, does it get in the way of anything, meaning the double alfa case feeder, I want to add a powder check

Gun Engraver I load the feeder off the press and then remove the collator while reloading. I’ll make a video demonstrating the collator this weekend and upload it to my channel.

You can even use Lee Loadmaster casefeeder tubes on Dillon, whole system. Just make some mount for it to place it above the casefeeding bushing (that plastic part). I’m pretty sure you’ll find some appropriate rod or tube at HW store. That way you can use Lee collator right away. I had this system on my XL650 for about two years and it worked fine, but later went with dillon casefeeder anyway. You know, reloading and processing thousands of .223 requires some serious capacity and those four tubes from Lee are not able to provide it :)

Great Video! Thank You. What is the name of the case feeder that you used and what is the height of the press from the base of the 750 to the top of the case feeder? I am assuming that you will need at least two inches of additional clearance from the top of the feeder to the ceiling to be able to install/remove the case feeder to the 750.
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
Thanks! It is a Mini Case Feeder - www.doublealpha.biz/us/mini-xl650-case-feeder Base of the press to the top of the case feeder is 34 ⅜ inches, and when installing/removing the case feeder about 35 inches is needed. I'd say a 36-inch clearance would be a good number.

Does 750 include de-crimping functionality for, for example, de-crimping 9mm brass (those pesky nontox-brass and military ones)
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
Not that I’m aware of. Plus I would think it’s too much work compared to the availability of 9mm brass. I shoot at a range the military practices on and I usually sort out the NATO brass for the recycling bin.

Here is the link I used. There is another link on the page for building instructions. www.eaa1000.av.org/technicl/worktabl/tablefig.htm I modified the measurements to fit in the space I was using. I built an overhang on the front of the bench and make the back of the top and legs flush to sit against the wall. I covered all the screw heads with spackle, primed and painted. I didn't have a table saw at the time. But if I did, I would have ripped the round edges off of 2x4s to have 3-inch wide boards then glue/screw the doubled up boards together for a cleaner look. I also though about using 2x8s to make 3 ½ wide boards as well.

Hey nice set up. Could you mention what the empty primer attachment you got on eBay for the tube was. That’s a good idea.

Search on eBay for dillonupgrades - The Original Dillon XL750 Spent Primer Fix Upgrade (Non Strong Mount Version). I purchased this one because I am using the Inline Fabrication mount and NOT the Dillon Mount.

Hi there do you take out the primers and size the case first? before cleaning ? then you run through the case again after its cleaned and dried for the bullet seat and final crimp? why not clean cases with the primer in and then all you need is to run the case once through the entire process. can that be done? sorry I a newbie to this.
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 3 года назад
The process depends on where I got my brass from. I've been shooting at an outdoor ranges lately, so my brass has been kicked through dirt and rocks. For outdoor brass, I wash and dry first. Then I deprime and resize using a Lee 9mm die on a separate tool head. Then I wash one more time to get the primer pockets cleaned. For indoor brass, I usually skip the first wash. I used to deprime (then wash) on my Lee Turret when I was bored, but it was quite slow and tedious to remove and place the case on the shell holder. Now, I like shiny brass, I don't like getting my equipment or my hands gunked up with dirty brass. The cleaning I do does not make the ammo shoot better, it just LOOKS better. There is NO ISSUE with washing the cases with the primers in and then deprime and resize, flare, powder, seat, crimp. In fact, before I got the Dillon my process was to wash first and then reload on my Lee Classic Turret. Again, because I like bright shiny objects...I go through my process of (washing outdoor brass), depriming/resizing and a final washing, dry and then reload. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Good overview of the press. Do you not have a case feeder? That's the one accessory I feel is pretty much mandatory for an XL650/750.
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
I didn't go with the Dillon Case Feeder, too much money. Instead I with with the DAA Mini Case Feeder. Each feeder holds 150 pieces of 9mm and it only takes me about 5 minutes to fill one up. I am having a collator (a la Lee Collator) 3D printed. Thanks

Which pedestal mount did you use by Inline Fab?
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
The Micro Ultramount - inlinefabrication.com/collections/ultramounts/products/micro-ultramount-4-riser The mount must be flush with the edge of the bench and the press linkage will hang over the side. Thanks for watching!

I see you have the primer catcher, but do you recommend depriming your brass before loading? I hear that the primers make a mess on ones press and contaminate the dies with crud. Thanks.
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
I decap first just so the primer pockets can be cleaned when I wet tumble my brass. Clean and shiny brass doesn't shoot any better it just looks good. When I first started reloading I didn't decap or clean my brass. I became tired of the dirty fingers so I started decapping on my Lee Classic Turret press with a regular Lee resizing die. I think I cleaned the resizing die once in its lifetime and didn't have any issues. Either way its messy. I know reloaders who don't clean the brass at all and I know reloaders who tumble with corn cob or walnut and then decap during reloading . I think it's personal preference for 9mm.
@jonathanl2748
@jonathanl2748 4 года назад
Snapjam Woodworks I’ e spent an enormous amount of time recapping before wet SS pin tumbling, so I may start to dry tumble and let the press do the recapping. Especially if it does not affect accuracy or create malfunctions. Thanks!

where did you get the track for in the bench?
@snapjamwoodworks710
@snapjamwoodworks710 4 года назад
I bought it here: www.eagleamerica.com/product/v416-1224/miter_track_t-track The description states free knobs and bolts but it really is a free knob and bolt per piece of track. I called the company to discuss plurality of knob versus knobs and they were very rude and condescending. I kicked around the idea of using regular sized T-track that takes ¼-20 bolts. I found some users on RU-vid that installed it in their benches and it worked for them. I only load 9mm so I am not putting a lot pressure when resizing. I 'think' I could have gotten away with using the regular sized track, especially using machine bolts and washers. YMMV.
