There are so many sad stories to come from war. Imagine all the people who loved her before they found out she was Japanese who in an instant turned against her. I had a similar situation when I went through a divorce. All the friends I thought I had from as far back as childhood turned on me. And though I was expecting a lot would I wasn't prepared for how mean they were. Most never tried to check on me or try to re-establish contact.
