Thank you for your reaction to "Daybreak"! The song is inspired by a real-life tragedy with a cable car in China. The parents of a little boy managed to lift him to safety, but they both died. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the little boy. The famous Chinese singer/songwriter Han Hong wrote and sang the song and adopted the orphan. Dimash performed it at the "Singer" competition in 2017. You may check out the video from G. Wu's channel, which tells the story and Dimash's thoughts about the song, and also how Dimash lost his voice and still managed to give an amazing performance. The Bastau solo concert later in 2017 was a spectacular concert in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), the capital of the country, in front of 30000 people ("Bastau"meanis "beginning" in Kazakh). Dimash was healthy then and the Bastau performance of "Daybreak" remains one of his most beautiful and riveting performances.

Hi Caitlin! Daybreak is based on a true event. A tragic cable car accident took place in China in October 1999 which took the lives of 14 tourists and there were 22 injured. A young couple managed to lift their 2,5yo son out of the falling cable car to safety. The parents did not survive the accident. Han Hong wrote Daybreak to commemorate the couple’s ultimate sacrifice for their child and she also sang it in the 2015 Singer competition and won it is also definitely worth a watch. I believe it was 1999 there was a cable car accident and 36 people were on board when the rescue party came to them the father of a little 2-year-old boy hoisted his son over his shoulders through the small aperture at the top of the car and with tears of gratitude and sorrow said to keep my baby safe .. just as the whole car gave way and plummeted down the side of the mountain ... the young child was adopted by the lady who first sang this song he is doing well and living for his whole former family .. he is a young man now forever grateful to all parties involved he is still alive

I can see you are mesmerised by the whole performance and I know cuz’ it is one of my favourite Dimash song. But you have to know the meaning of the song cuz’ it’s just touching!!!! And once you know the meaning of the song and then you listen to the song (of course you had the subtitles on) the way he sings it is not vocally outstanding but full of emotion!!! The back story is just moving!! You got to look it up 😊😊 There is another version, The Singer version, which has the back story clearly explained, and also that version was where Dimash lost his voice and still gave his best so you can check that out for the backstory and then you have to listen to this back again. 😊
Hello! This is by far one of the best interpretations of Dimash, with this wonderful, but very sad song based on a true event, which you will have already been told. Dimash feels every word that he sings, and it is something for which, he is the best in the world.

I became a nun when I was sixteen years old, Pope John Paul 11 sent me to Darfur straight away.many months had gone by and I finally got a letter from my mom , she sent me two tickets for Queen hidden a smaller envelope, I had living in Darfur for about a year and I was able to get a week off , to go home to see my mom, I didn't say anything about a concert, I wasn't trying to be sneaky it's just that if I would have asked for time off for a concert, there's no way that would have ever happened. I had just turned seventeen when I went to see them , it was great, Freddie was a legendary showman. I got to see them one more time years later I am so grateful I went to see them. never been anyone quite like Freddie, Until Dimash. Freddie would always step into character and play the part, Dimash doesn't sing anything that he can't feel within his soul, he never acts out any performance because he is the performance. Dimash has a Majestic Ethereal power it's absolutely crazy to see Dimash come out on stage, right before he starts to sing .... more than twenty thousand of us were silent, just thinking about it boggles my mind, but this is why God made Dimash, he made him for all of us and the world ,to bring us together . I know bringing the world together is a herculean task but he's already been acomplishing this and it's a miracle to witness It's great to be alive during this time in life watching everything Dimash is achieving. Hi Caitlin, Dimash was a boy when he first heard this song and he said it made him tremble. He always sings it reverently and passionately to honour the victims especially for the parents of the toddler about whom the song was written. Han Hong, author of the song, sings it so beautifully too.

The theme of this song is the sad and true story of a child who was saved from death by his sacrificial parents: In the city of Xingyi (Guizhou Province) the 2-year-old child, Quon Yan, his father, Quon Dalei and his mother, Li Chun went on a cable car ride when an accident occurred that killed more than fifty people. To save the child, the parents left him suspended by the strength of their arms and lost their lives for it. Quon Yan was adopted by Han Hong who composed this sad and beautiful song. Dimash performed this song on “The Singer” but had a sore throat and sang on the basis of medication. In his first show he sang in full health and gave this sublime performance.
Awww I really wished she could have put more attention in the lyrics and story than on the scene and all that, I know it can be distracting, but I believe like 90% of this song is the meaning and pain of it. It takes it to a whole another level.

I think you play it again it after telling background story. It was a true story. 49 people died except a tiny boy. The song is told from boys eyes. It was so important DIMASH called the little boy. You have to have subtitles. It is a slight to all if you don’t.

He is always SO prepared and in the moment...not to mention here, with the one strap black and white outfit is looking so dam good...No one can come close to him...All should at least once, get to see Dimash live...it will change your life!
